Pediatric Care
Dr. Nelson graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Microbiology and Immunology, with honors, from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, before completing her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin Medical School. She then completed her Pediatrics residency at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, serving as chief resident.
Primary Care
Please note that patients with allergies, asthma (not on oxygen), and immune deficiencies are NOT included at the current time. South Bay Allergy doctors and staff are currently unable to provide documentation for vaccine prioritization. Please refer to county guidelines or contact your primary care physician with any questions about your eligibility for the vaccine. Shortly after graduation, Dr. Xu moved to New Haven, Connecticut, for her internal medicine residency at Yale University, during which time, she was award a postdoctoral fellowship award by the National Institute of Health (NIH) for her research in Cutaneous T Cell Lymphoma (CTCL). Finally, Dr. Xu relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area for her fellowship in Allergy, Asthma and Immunology at a combined program by the Stanford University and the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Medical Centers.

Dermatology
Dr. Xu has received several prestigious awards over the years, including a fellowship award in dermatology by the NIH and a clinical fellowship award through the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. She also received a mention in the San Jose Magazine “Top Docs” list.
Eczema
Each of the dual board-certified physicians at South Bay Allergy and Asthma Group has the skill and experience to diagnose and treat a variety of conditions, including hay fever, asthma, sinus infections, chronic cough, recurrent infections, hives, eczema, other skin allergies, food allergies, insect allergies, and pet allergies.
