Thirty years after obtaining my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (Purdue, 1984), I am sure it was the right path for me. It is an honor and a privilege caring for pets and their people. Though I love general practice and internal medicine best, some special people and animals encouraged me to expand my horizons. Several years on the "Paws with Purpose" Board of Directors led to an interest in behavior and training, and I became a "Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist". I maintain my sanity by not working too much, though my days are filled with other animal related activities. I am on the Board of Directors for Alley Cat Advocates, and volunteer at their monthly "Big Fix". I also am on the Board of Directors for the National Wolfwatcher Coalition, an advocacy group for wolves. I live with my husband, Jaimie on our hobby farm, with horses, a donkey, a sheep, pigs, goats, geese, chickens, and, of course, dogs and cats. Tending to my husband, children, grandchildren and animals round out my days. Usually, I am also building something!
Comprehensive Examination
Having 3 dogs, 3 cats, a rabbit, and a fish. I obviously love animals. Since I was a child I always wanted to work with animals, but I wasn't one of those kids who wanted to be a veterinarian when I grew up. Instead, I always wanted to be the veterinarians' assistant. Well, now that I'm grown up, I am exactly that! Working at the Mt. Washington Animal Clinic is a blessing and a privilege. I don't just have a "job" I get to come to work and do what I love to do. Helping people and their furry family members is what I take the most pride in doing. I wear many hats at the clinic. I can go from a nurse to a phlebotomist to a receptionist in an instant, I am very proud of all the things I can do and what I learn on a day to day basis. Along with my position as a technician I also manage the Facebook page for the clinic and partner with Jean in running the kennel. When you come see me at the clinic you can rest easy in knowing that I will care for your pets as I would my own when they are here for an extended stay or for a routine exam. When you have a career in the animal field it's something you can't "turn off". Most of my free time is spent volunteering with Alley Cat Advocates, taking my dogs for walks, and playing with my cats! I am married to a wonderful man who embraces my love for animals.
If you have any questions or concerns once you get home, call our clinic and a staff member will answers you to the best of their ability, if they are unable to answer your question they will consult the doctor and return your call with the answer free of charge.
