Overall

I am 51 ys old and had to stay at Havencrest for rehabilitation for a total knee replacement. The bed was very comfortable. I didn't have a TV, phone or computer. If you stay there you need to provide your own. Some patients had Tv's, I didn't. The nures and aids I had were very nice except for one aid. I got walked in on several times when I was in the rest room. The rest room is shared by two rooms and one door had a lock and the other one didn't. I found out that the aids didn't respect my rights to privacy and I got walked in on several times while using the rest room. They have a tendancy to not knock first. They just walk in and if you are in there, they say they are sorry and go about there business. Once I was washing up and the oher time I was on the toilet. They tend to bring the medications on time, had no problem with that. The food on the other hand tends to be on the low end. The kitchen tends not to listen to your requests. The food tends to be on the low side of the budget. Meats where really salty. When they have scrambled eggs, it is not the real thing. I believe it is the powdered mix or the liquid replacement. Also the pancakes or waffles are not freshly made. They are from a box. The way they cook them is in bulk, so the edges are hard when you get them. I wouldn't reccomend the food. I only had a few things that were really good. They do have a refigerator and you are allowed to bring in your own food and drinks. I would, if I had to stay there again, I would have my food brought in from a restaurant or if family is close to bring all meals in from home. It is that bad. The best thing Havencrest has going for it; is there Rehabilitation department. I had rehab everyday except for Sunday and it was intense and they push you to get the job done. I really liked the rehab. When I first got there, the place reake of urine. My first impression was, "oh no, what did I get myself into" Although where I was; didn't stink. I don't know where the stinch was coming from, because they do, clean on the daily basis and the patients are taken care of. I stayed on the left wing near the rear patio. I did enjoy the patio. It was nice sitting out there. They have activities that I did enjoy. They played bingo, games, and more that I ddn't attend. My schedule was rather busy until about 2:30 everyday. If you choose this place to stay at, would only reccomend a short stay. If the food was better and more desireable then I would reccomend it long term. You have to stay there to see what I mean about the food. Other than that, I did enjoy my stay for 1 week of rehab.
