Teeth Cleaning
Fluoride Treatment
Each 6 month visit includes a prophy, a fluoride treatment and an exam. Two (2) or four (4) digital images are taken on the first visit and then yearly thereafter. Minor children will not be treated without a parent or legal guardian physically present.
Space Maintainers
Some children may require a space maintainer if a baby tooth is extracted early due to dental decay. Teeth can shift after an extraction and not leave enough room for the permanent tooth underneath to erupt. A space maintainer is placed to keep the space open and may lessen the chance of needing full braces in the future.

Fillings
Veneers
Veneers: Veneers are an excellent way to fill gaps, change the shape, alignment, and color of the front teeth. They require a small amount of enamel to be removed from the front surface of the tooth and then a thin porcelain shell is custom made and bonded to the tooth. They can achieve outstanding improvements in one's smile, and if taken care of properly, can last many years.
Crowns
Bridge: A bridge, sometimes called a Fixed Partial Denture, is one option sometimes available to patients who are missing one or more teeth. Unlike a Removable Partial Denture, a bridge is cemented and can only be removed by a dentist. Bridges are an excellent way to replace missing teeth and alleviate stress caused by tooth loss. They can be made from several different materials, including gold, alloys, and porcelain. A bridge usually consists of two crowns that go over two anchoring teeth (abutments) that are attached to artificial teeth (pontics) in between to fill the missing space created by tooth loss.

Root Canal Treatment
Extractions: Sometimes a tooth is extremely damaged or broken and cannot be saved, thus requiring removal. Most simple extractions can be done here at this office using local anesthesia. If a tooth is severely compromised, impacted, or has had a root canal, however, your dentist may choose to refer you to one of our local Oral Surgeons.

Dentures
Dentures/Removable Partial Dentures: These appliances are made for people who have either lost all or some of their teeth due to periodontal disease, tooth decay, or trauma. When a person is missing multiple teeth, support of the facial muscles is lost, and can make a person appear much older than what they really are. Dentures and partials can be made to closely resemble natural teeth and can benefit both your appearance and your health. Your dentist will make models and take measurements of your mouth, and through a series of appointments, make an appliance that is custom fit just for you.
Overdentures
A hybrid is a special type of implant supported denture that allows those who have lost their teeth and bone to function like people with a natural dentition. This type of restoration requires multiple implants to be placed in the jawbone. A custom made hybrid denture will then attach to the implants. Your dentist will remove them once a year for cleaning and maintenance, but it is not removed daily like a traditional denture or locator overdenture. Since hybrids are “fixed” and much less bulky, they feel very natural. Eating is a much more enjoyable experience as the limitations experienced with dentures aren’t there. This allows patients to regain their confidence because they don’t have to worry about their dentures slipping, getting sore spots, or using anymore adhesive.

Dental Implants
Dr. Philip O. Sels was born and raised in the Milford-Felton area and is the son of Willy Sels and Milford pediatrician, Dr. Teresa Keller. After graduation in 2004 from St. Thomas More Academy, he attended Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania where he achieved a B.S. in Biology and a Minor in Studio Art in 2008. Dr. Sels received his D.M.D. Degree from Temple University School of Dentistry in 2012 and completed a General Practice Residency at Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown in 2013. He joined Diamond State Dentistry in 2013 and became a partner in 2017. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Delaware State Dental Society, and the Kent-Sussex Dental Society as the Vice-president and has been featured in DELAWARE TODAY magazine in 2018 and 2020 as one of the top General Dentists in Delaware. He enjoys all aspects of dentistry and performs most procedures including the placement and restoration of implants. Dr. Sels has an avid interest in planes and flying. He and his family currently reside in Magnolia and they enjoy time on the beach, boating and fishing, and entertaining friends.

General Dentistry
Dr. Bunting was born in Selbyville and grew up in Dagsboro, Delaware. She graduated from Indian River High School in 1982 and from the University of Delaware in 1987. She received her Doctorate in Dental Medicine from Temple University School of Dentistry in 1991 where she also taught in the Operative Dentistry, Pathology, and Emergency departments. After graduation and induction into the National Dental Honor Society, OKU, she completed the General Practice Residency at Wilmington Hospital in 1992. Dr. Bunting practiced for over ten years in a group practice in Dover and then Georgetown, Delaware. In 2003, she started this solo practice in Milford, Delaware. She is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Delaware State Dental Society and the Kent-Sussex Dental Society. She has recently served on the Delaware State Board of Dentistry and Dental Hygiene and has been featured in DELAWARE TODAY magazine in 2015, 2018 and 2019 as one of the Top Dentists in Delaware. Since she and her husband became aware that their son had autism, she has also been very active in autism advocacy and fundraising for groups such as Autism Delaware. She and her husband and son live on a farm in Greenwood and enjoy quiet summers on the Delaware Bay in their Slaughter Beach cottage.
