ArthritisJoint replacement surgery is considered when there is severe pain or dysfunction in a joint, which can be caused by damage and wearing of the cartilage, rheumatoid arthritis, avascular necrosis, trauma to the joint or even long term misalignment of the joint. When one or more of these things occurs, the joint that has been affected will be replaced by an orthopedic prosthesis that will allow more normal function, with far less pain.

Plantar FasciitisOveruse injuries occur when repetitive forces are placed on the tissue causing inflammation and pain. Injuries that fall under this classification include plantar fasciitis and tendonitis. Web MD describes plantar fasciitis as the most common cause of heel pain.
