Dental Examination
Your first visit, with us, at our office is very important in establishing your oral health baseline. We will perform a comprehensive (complete) oral examination which includes an oral cancer screening, periodontal evaluation, an analysis of your occlusion (bite) and a thorough examination of your teeth, their supporting structures and of the oral anatomy.

Teeth Cleaning
Periodontal treatment methods depend upon the type and severity of the disease. Periodontal disease, aka periodontitis, progresses as the sulcus (pocket or space) between the tooth and gums gets filled with bacteria, plaque and tartar, causing an infection and irritation to the surrounding tissues. When bacterial irritants remain in the pocket space, they can cause damage to the gingiva (gums) and eventually the bone that supports the teeth. If the disease is caught in the early stages of gingivitis, and no permanent damage has been done, one to two regular cleanings per year will be recommended. You will also be given instructions on improving your daily oral hygiene habits and having regular dental cleanings, specific to your individual needs.

Our dental hygiene program is designed to help prevent new cavities, preserve teeth that have been restored and manage periodontal disease. At the initial visit with our hygienist, oral hygiene instructions are reviewed and reinforced at subsequent recall visits. We custom tailor our preventive program to the patient and their individual needs. To help prevent the most common cavities, which occur on the chewing surfaces of our teeth, sealants are frequently placed on permanent teeth of kids and adults that have deep grooves.

Fillings
Tooth-Colored Fillings – Amalgam fillings are silver in color and therefore more noticeable, which some people do not like. For those who are concerned with fillings that are noticeable, we offer tooth-colored or white fillings. Our practice utilizes the most reliable technology to provide fillings made from high-quality composite resin that closely resembles the look of your natural teeth. White fillings offer patients more esthetic value with improved longevity that they can feel confident about.
Resin Composite
Traditional dental restoratives (fillings) include amalgam and composite resin. Traditional restorations are also known as direct restorations and are placed the day the cavity is removed to fill the space left after drilling to remove the cavity.
Veneers

Crowns
The terms dental crowns and caps are synonymous. Crowns are used to restore a tooth’s function and appearance when the structural integrity of a tooth is compromised such that a restoration (filling) is not an adequate long-term solution.
Bridges
There are two basic types of prostheses, each with their own subcategory depending on the patient and their needs. One type of prostheses is a fixed prostheses, which remains in your mouth at all times, and is supported by either your natural tooth, teeth or dental implants. Common fixed prostheses are crowns and bridges. The other type of prostheses is a removable prostheses, which can be removed from your mouth for cleaning, and is supported by either your natural teeth, resting on your gums where teeth are missing or dental implants. Common removable prostheses are complete dentures and partial dentures. Each of the various prostheses are fabricated in dental laboratories. We use only high-quality dental labs, located in the U.S.A. to provide our patients with the best treatment available. Both fixed and removable prostheses can be used to replace one missing tooth, multiple missing teeth or all teeth.

Root Canal Treatment
Root canal therapy involves the removal of the infected pulp and disinfection of the tooth structure followed by sealing of the canals inside the root where the pulp was removed. Root canal therapy is done with local anesthesia and often is completed in one appointment but certain situations may require more than one appointment. Success for this type of treatment is very high but the degree of success varies with each situation.

Periodontal Surgery
Deep Cleaning
If the disease has progressed to more advanced stages, a special periodontal cleaning called scaling and root planing (deep cleaning) will be recommended. A more frequent interval of regular maintenance cleanings will be recommended, depending on the patients individual needs. If the pockets do not heal after scaling and root planing, periodontal surgery may be needed to reduce pocket depths.

Dental Implants
When tooth removal is necessary, we do simple and complex (surgical) extractions with local anesthesia and if needed, we offer oral sedation or nitrous oxide. We also remove wisdom teeth on and place dental implants in a number of patients. In situations where the patient needs to be heavily sedated or “knocked-out” so they do not remember anything, we will refer them to an Oral Surgeon.
