Wow.....Here's an owner who needs a course or two in customer service! When I called and asked if they could deliver when it's NOT raining (as I don't want to run the risk of water in my tank) I was TOLD to call back when I wanted the delivery. I then explained that I wanted it the next day when it wasn't raining as the company policy was "next day delivery", and was TOLD again that they don't schedule around the weather. It wasn't the message that rankled me as much as the owner's tone. I then set up another company, and called the owner back to explain that he had just lost a customer. Instead of making any attempt to make amends and keep me as a customer his reaction was: "OK..Greg, thank you" and then he just hung up on me. A complete jerk.

Overall

Northern Essex Fuel Corporation refused to deliver oil during the snowiest winter on record due to my long driveway. I immediately switched over to Eaton Oil and they have not had a problem servicing my house. NEFC customer service is awful.

RUDEST PEOPLE ON THE PLANET

I should have known better after my first phone call to set up new service, spoke with "Lisa" who was incredibly rude when I asked if it was ok to leave two checks upon delivery versus one as my roommate and I split the heating cost. She said they couldn't accept to checks. I was puzzled and asked why they won't accept two checks...she responded, "Because we don't. " Uh...ok. After I asked if there was a manager or someone she could ask, she THEN said two checks WOULD be fine.

But, that's nothing...

Had a delivery scheduled on a Wed, My paycheck would clear by then, which is why I scheduled it for then. They called me the Sunday before and asked to move the delivery earlier, to Monday, due to pending storm. I said that's totally understandable, but is it ok if my check is still dated for original delivery date. I was told that's not a problem. All was well, til the owner called me later that week and griped at me, "Listen, don't y think you're gonna be post dating checks all the time. " Uh, I wasn't thinking that and explained that I had spoken with someone there beforehand about it.

Last straw...needed an oil delivery for as soon as possible, was told on a Monday morning by "Lisa" when I asked any chance of them being able to deliver that afternoon, "You're on the list, where will the check be?" Now, in all fairness Mark (owner) had told me the day before he couldn't make any promises for same day delivery, but to call in the morning, and I was totally fine with that.

When "Lisa" responded with "You're on the list..."

I took that to mean possibly same day.

No oil by 4:30pm, so called to see if we're still "on the list". Here's where it got ugly. She then very rudely tells me, "I told you tomorrow ".

She absolutely did not, otherwise I would have started calling around to other places, where it was unfortunately, a somewhat urgent situation . i told her she definitely did not tell me tomorrow, and that would have been nice to know that at 9:30 this morning. She kept rudely insisting, "I told you tomorrow ".

I asked if Mark could call me back, all I wanted was to voice my complaint of being treated so rudely by Lisa, and that it wasn't the first time. Well, instead he called me and basically screamed over me, wouldn't let me talk, just hollered over and over.

I tried repeatedly to calmly interject his yelling and explain my reason for wanting to speak with him . Got nowhere. The man must have an IQ of a tree stump that he cannot rationally hear out a customer. I immediately changed oil companies after that "conversation" (for lack of a better word).

It was so nice to hear a friendly and helpful voice on the other end of the phone when I spoke with our new oil company , the opposite of dealing with Northern Essex Fuel Corp. I'm guessing Mark and Lisa are related somehow. They should consider some customer service seminars, and possibly anger management for Mark.

I have been a customer of Northern Essex Fuel's for the past 8 years and have had nothing but good experiences with them. Both the office staff and the drivers are always pleasant to interact with. When I placed my last order I was told it would be on Wednesday, but I was happily surprised when I saw their truck pull into my driveway over the weekend. The driver explained to me that they are still trying to get back on schedule from all this snow we have received and they were actually able to make my delivery sooner than they had expected. The driver said both he and the business appreciated my flexibility and the flexibility other customers have shown.

All in all, I have nothing but good things to say about Northern Essex Fuel and would recommend them to anyone!

I am so happy with the service that I receive from Northern Essex Fuel Corp. - they have delivered to me for ten years and deliver to my elderly parents. I got a delivery Saturday, two days before I was supposed to get it. The driver explained that they are working extremely hard this winter with the deep snow. I have only had good treatment from this company.

Disappointed

Would not deliver to me after 3 years of business with then. I have a steep driveway. The woman on the phone asked if was snow free and I replied it was pretty good. She then said she knows the driveway and they are not interested in delivering to me. Why not just say it needs to be salted first? New oil company had NO problem delivering. Very disappointed in a business from the town I live in. So much for helping neighbors and keeping my business local.

Rude, Rude, Rude, These people are ignorant both on the phone and in person. I just had the owner berate me at the open door of my house with my wife and children listening in the background all over their misunderstanding of where and when the check was to be left for an oil delivery.



He left in a huff while the check was half written then when I called and told his office that the check is taped to the door when he decides to come back, she insisted I mail it to them and threatened to take me to court if I did not.

Customer service was horrendou...

Customer service was horrendous. Wanted to ask a number of questions and was told this was taking too long. Put on hold.Told they did not want me as a customer and I should call other fuel oil dealers.
