Lamb's Gap Animal Hospital is the best vet in Central PA. I went there for 15 years and then moved so I decided to switch vets. I tried 3 vets closer to my new home. None of them even compared to the care my animals were given at Lamb's Gap. Now I make the extra drive back to Lamb's Gap. They always go above and beyond and I am so grateful for that. I will never go anywhere else.

After reading these previous comments I just don't understand how people can rate this vet negatively. For the one who said they made their pet wait for the ER to open...I don't believe it. They most like said the pet would need to be transferred to an ER after they see it because it will need 24 hour care anyway. People don't understand that. It my opinion, I would rather a vet tell me to go straight to the ER if it's close to closing time because for one, my pet is going to be even more stressed going to the regular vet for a couple hours just to have to get back in the car to go to an ER (you would also receive two exam fees, one for the regular vet and one for the ER vet). I would appreciate the honesty of them just telling me to go there in the first place. That shows they care more about the comfort of the animal than making money.

I feel this vet has only gotten better over the past 15 years. They have more doctors and more diagnostics than other vets I have gone to. I also appreciate the fact that if they aren't comfortable performing a procedure, they will refer you to someone who they know can perform it. Would you rather them lie and then your pet not get the best care? I don't think so.

This vet all around gets 5 stars, if I could give more, I would. For the people saying they are over priced. They are not. Actually, my dog's medications are cheaper there than they were at the past 3 vets. My dog is on 3 different medications.

Bottom line, this vet is simply the best.

I started taking my dogs because they came highly referred by other pet owners and because they were close to home. I found them to be very friendly and well serving to our dogs. We experienced a recent critical condition with one of our dogs and they were able to take us immediately and we were able to get unplanned follow up visits quickly as well. They also offered us in-clinic cost saving options and offered home treatment options that saved us money. They also shared all lab results by email. We are satisfied customers and will continue to take our four-legged family members to them for care.

I have to agree with Charles S. a few years ago they were amazing! Best vet ever.

Not anymore.

My wife took our cat for the sole purpose of having her toe/foot looked at because she was putting no weight on the foot. The foot/toe had a lesion that was noticeable to me at the time and was obviously swollen. The cat was not walking on the foot and still isn't. They diagnosed the cat as having a dislocated kneecap. The cat may also have had a dislocated knee cap, but once the vet found this, she did not go on to carefully examine the foot, even though my wife specifically asked her if she had checked the toes and told the vet that I had noticed something abnormal about the toes. The vet indicated she had checked and the toes were fine, but it didn’t seem, according to my wife, that she had examined the feet or toes specifically. If she had checked carefully, I am sure she would have seen the lesion and swelling that I noticed when I had looked at it. The foot/toe is now infected and bleeding.

I called them back, explained the situation and expressed I did not feel as though my cat was adequately examined based on our appointment being set up for the toe/foot.

I expressed that I did not feel as though I should need to pay for another exam, but I would be very happy to pay for all the additional treatment. They said that I would absolutely have to pay for the re-exam. Based on the fact that we feel the initial exam and care was lacking and the office was unwilling to compromise to rectify the situation fairly, we have opted to take our animals elsewhere from now on.

10 years ago they were very good and reasonable. There quality of care has gone down hill as there prices have sky rocked. I do not mind paying a premium for good care but if your pet gets sick or hurt they don't have the time to see them and refer you to the emergency vet. My young Lab was cut and bleeding and though it was 2.5 hours before they closed they could not make time for her and I had to wait 2 hours for the emergency vet to open to get her help. They will not get another dime from me, if they can't be there when you need them, then they aren't getting the easy money either.

Used to be great not anymore

This used to be the BEST vet in the area. Now, for all the reasons I used to recommend them I dislike them. I have been a client for over 10 years! They used to care now all they care about is money not the animals. If you can't pay their quickly inflating prices they will let your pet leave and not help them or find a more affordable way to treat them. Their prices used to be reasonable and they used to know you and your pets and do their best to lessen the financial burden. Now an office visit will cost $49 it was $25 when I started. Recently I have called for an emergency visit and was told they had no appointments for my dogs who urgently needed seen. That NEVER was something I expected to hear. Now I went to visit them for a simple treatment for my third dog and was guilt tripped into all kinds if extra's that I couldn't afford. Like I said, they left us leave with no help, a bill for $50 just to tell me they wanted almost $1000 to help my dog with a broken tooth!

I used this vet clinic up until 3 years ago. Spent lots of money there, took dog for dental and prices doubled with no notice. Asked fo adjustment, they refused. I'm not paying for 6 women standing in the back socializing. Prices are HIGH! Good way to lose business.
