In 1984, the company trade name evolved from Jackson Tractor Parts to HEAVYQUIP, although the legal name remained Crawler Parts, Inc The company wanted its customers to look to them for more than just parts and service for crawler equipment. They wanted to be their first call when looking for any part or service for the complete range of construction equipment.HEAVYQUIP prides itself on staying abreast of the latest technological enhancements in the market as related to inventory control and accounting in order to offer its customers the best service possible. This includes an IBM A/S 400 RISC computer using state-of-the-art programming providing for real-time inventory control and accounting. In addition, all branches and a majority of dealers are linked using a frame relay along with the Internet to facilitate the largest computerized inventory in the industry.As the largest independent retail construction parts and service company in North America, HEAVYQUIP can provide convenience and customer service that is difficult to match. Full service shops located throughout the Southeastern United States are prepared to handle all types of heavy equipment repair. In addition, retail coverage expands throughout Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Missouri, Kansas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. HEAVYQUIP's wholesale business expands even further, taking in all of the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America and the Caribbean.Undercarriage accounts for approximately half of HEAVYQUIP's annual sales. The remaining sales includes a variety of parts, including ground engaging tools, paver parts, engine, transmission and other power train parts and labor. Suppliers for this expansive selection of parts are located in Italy, Turkey, Spain, Brazil, Australia, Thailand, China, Korea, Canada, Mexico, and United States.The Port of New Orleans is the port of choice for most of HEAVYQUIP's imported parts. From there they are transferred to Jackson, Mississippi and then redistributed through weekly stock orders to HEAVYQUIP branches and wholesale customers. The majority of domestically purchased parts are also processed through Jackson.
