Established in 1969, the Midwest Archeological Center undertakes the study and interpretation, as well as preserves archeological resources within the National Park System. The Center also provides support and consultancy services to other federal state and local government agencies. Located in Lincoln, Neb., the center assists various agencies, including the U.S. Army and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, with cultural resource management. It conducts a program for archeological assistance. The center is owned and operated by the National Park Service of the Department of the Interior, which maintains several parks and more than 400 natural, cultural and recreational sites across the United States.
