La Botanica del Monte, the new religious supplies shop at 114 South First Street opened its doors to its new location in August. Senora Johnson, la proprietor, said “the idea of bringing spiritual healing to an underserved community is the thrill of a lifetime”. “Palante!” she declared as she cut the ribbon. “During these troubling times, ease your troubled mind”, Senora said. “These are problem times for many both financially and otherwise, and people are turning to their faith and belief in a higher power to carry them through. The Botanica is the place to gather your strength and the wisdom needed to persevere.” While the Botanica is new to the area, promoting spiritual growth prosperity has been an integral of our existence. From its humble beginnings on route 196, Tobyhanna to its grand opening in the heart of downtown Lehighton, “we are proud to be here, serving people in multi-cultured communities” Senora said. People may hear the word Botanica and assume this is strictly a Latino based culture shop, which is not so. The Botanica caters to all people from Allentown to Wilkes-Barre and the Pocono Mountains.
