Teeth Cleaning
Fluoride Treatment
A. Patients should brush their teeth at least four times each day – after each meal and before going to bed. We will also show you how to floss your teeth with braces, and we may provide a prescription for a special fluoride treatment, if necessary.

A wire engaged in orthodontic attachments, affixed to the crowns of two or more teeth and guides the direction of tooth movement.
Dental Bonding

Dentures
Brush your removable appliance every day as a part of your regular brushing and flossing schedule. Because food particles and plaque can accumulate on your appliance just as they do on your teeth, soak the appliance daily. Dissolve a denture-cleaning tablet in a glass of tap water at room temperature, and soak your appliance once a day.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Jaw Surgery
Malocclusions can result not only from misaligned teeth, but also from the improper positioning of the jaws. In some cases, the jaw discrepancy is so severe that orthodontic movement of the teeth alone is not sufficient to correct the bite. This often adversely affects facial appearance and leads to difficulties in chewing, talking, sleeping and other routine activities. Such cases may require corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery), in conjunction with orthodontic treatment, to correct abnormalities of the facial bones and improve the overall appearance of the facial profile.

Orthodontics
Dr. Steven Charchut is a native to the Lansing area, growing up in Okemos and attending Okemos High School. He completed his undergraduate studies at Duke University and later earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where he graduated top in his class. He then went on to complete specialty training in orthodontics at the University of Michigan, where he earned a Master of Science degree and conducted research in facial development and cleft palate. Dr. Charchut is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists. He has practiced orthodontics in Lansing and St. Johns since 2005.
Braces
Once we remove your braces, we will move into the retention stage of your treatment. Maintaining the results you achieved during the treatment phase is key to the success of the entire orthodontic process. Your retention phase will last for a minimum of 24 months. Your final orthodontic result depends on your retainers, so follow through with the hard work you've put in so far.
