Champps Americana

Probably the worst experience we have ever had at Champps. The five dollar off special, avocado dip was so watery that it was not eatable. The salads we ordered were at best, mediocre; tasteless, poorly arranged and simply, very bad. No non-alcoholic beer either???

In the men's bath room, I was taken aback and disgusted. There was mud, yes mud on the floor and it was very wet and slippery. One paper towel dispenser was wide open and paper all over the place.

The smell was also terrible. What has happened to a once very nice location? After two and a half years of generally enjoying Champps, we find ourselves saying, we'll never return.'

I would not recommend this restaurant, unless you just want a burger and fries. I ordered the nut crusted chicken (either walnut or pecan--can't remember, but there is only one entree with it), and was a very blah dish. The mashed potatoes were pathetic. My friend ordered the BBQ platter. She said hers was very mediocre too. These two dishes were not worth the $40 we paid--we would have been happier at a fast food restaurant. To top that off, I only ate about 1/2 my plate, then felt tremendously bloated. Within 5 minutes of leaving, I had to make an emergency stop at a gas station, and could barely make it to the stall. Horrible diarrhea, and I never have this after eating. It was definitely the food, because I had not eaten anything else for at least 14 or 15 hours. I suggest going to Bravos, where you can pay $40 and get a meal that is delicious and won't give you the runs.
