        Founded in 1972, the Lake Wales Family YMCA operates a cardio fitness center, free weight room, outdoor swimming pool, gymnasium, racquetball courts, and softball and soccer fields. It also maintains a spa center and provides child care services for children of ages 1 to 12. The Lake Wales Family YMCA additionally organizes summer day camps that include arts and crafts, field trips and character development classes. Its YMCA READS! program meets the educational and developmental needs of students in kindergarten through grade three. The organization also conducts an aquatic program that includes swim lessons and health and safety classes. Located in Lake Wales, Fla., it is a part of the Young Men's Christian Association, which serves more than 20 million people each year.
