Dr. Manger was appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland by Senator Daniel K. Inouye of Hawaii, where he earned his Bachelorâ€™s of Science degree in mathematics and nuclear science and graduated with honors. Dr. Manger then served in the Navy as an engineering officer on a nuclear missile submarine under Admiral Hyman Rickover for 5 years. Following his service with the Navy, he completed pre-medical studies at Harvard University and graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) School of Medicine. He then completed an internship and 3-year ophthalmology residency at the renowned Doheny Eye Institute in Los Angeles.

Dr. Hiep Nguyen graduated from the University of California Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry. After working for 2 years as a radiation oncology research scientist at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center, he completed his graduate studies at the Southern California College of Optometry, earning a Doctorate degree in optometry. Dr. Nguyen received the distinctive Dr. Irvin M. Borish Award and the Southwest Vision Services Scholarship. Dr. Nguyen joined Saddleback Eye Center in 1993. As the Director of Optometry, he works closely with Dr. Manger. He assists Dr. Manger with patient care for our refractive surgery patients and is an excellent resource for patients considering blended monovision LASIK. Dr. Nguyen is fluent in both English and Vietnamese.
