Located 20 minutes from downtown Los Angeles, Descanso Gardens is a botanical garden and place of year-round natural beauty, with internationally renowned botanical collections and spectacular seasonal horticultural displays. Accredited by the American Association of Museums as a museum of living collections, Descanso Gardens welcomes 250,000 visitors annually. The principal collections include California native plants and oak woodlands; one of the largest concentration of camellia plants in the Western Hemisphere; a rose garden with specimens from all corners of the globe; and significant presentations of lilacs, maple trees, cherry trees and iris. I hadn't been to Descanso Gardens in almost two decades. My family and I visited their Enchanted Forest of Light exhibit in the new year and were blown away. It will probably be a tradition for years to come.

Enjoyed the Enchanted Forest walk through the garden and playing with the interactive light show. The girls had a great time and I can't wait to go in the spring and enjoy the blooms.

Descanso Gardens is a beautiful and relaxing place to enjoy with the whole family. They have kid-friendly options and plenty of open spaces for the children to enjoy. It is a prime place to bring your camera along as well.

A beautiful place to let the kids run around... koi ponds, rose gardens, mini-hedge mazes a la The Shining...there's a small, ride-on train that takes you in a little loop for a few extra bucks and the cafe has lots of kid-friendly menu options. It's relaxing, gorgeous, and my kids could spend all day hanging out here. I hear they have some fun "jazz nights" in the summertime, but haven't been yet.

Descanso Gardens Beauty to Go!!!

I wasn't sure what to expect from this gift shop after spending the day at Descanso Gardens, but in addition to offering a great selection of items, most of the were reasonably priced. I bought a beautiful "Bridal Veil" hanging plant which cost more than a few dollars LESS than what I'd recently paid at a discount store. Plus, buying a plant here virtually assures that you're getting a healthy plant that's been well cared for. I also bought a beautiful votive holder for under $20 and saw several other items I'd consider purchasing on future visits.
