With all of the negative comments, I too was skeptical at adopting from Main Line Rescue. You need to understand, they are an organization with rules. Most people don't like rules, and I think this is why people write negative comments. I had no problem with Bill, he is a nice person who is passionate about animals. Before you choose a dog from their website, read their contract carefully. This way you won't be upset if they tell you, you cannot adopt. I carefully read their Website. I completed the application form, I then received an interview call with Jodi, where I spoke with her 2 times, and within one week, she scheduled my appointment to see the dog and also his caretaker. We spent an hour with the dog learning about his habits, etc. and also to see if we were a good match with the dog. Bill and the caretaker then told us we could go ahead with the adoption process. The next day, the dog was delivered to us by the caretaker. What more can you ask for?

If you're in a big rush to adopt, first try the SPCA in your area.
If you don't mind going through a couple of phone interviews and Filling-out forms, then this is the place to go. It is an absolutely, amazing place.

Everything seemed great. We filled out an application and had an almost immediate response. We showed up for our appointment 1/2 an hour early and they graciously took us before our appointment time. We discussed what type of dog we were looking for and quickly had a list of potential dogs that the volunteer felt were a great fit for us. After meeting a number of dogs there was one dog in particular we fell in love with. The dog was rather tame and spent most of the time sitting on our laps and starring into our eyes. The director Bill came over and saw us interacting with the dog and asked us a few questions. He then said to the volunteer "we should adopt to these two." It was mentioned that this was contingent on a fence inspection at our home. About 4 days later Bill showed up at our home and said the fence and everything looked good he would call us the next day. Over the next couple of days we received no update so we began calling. The next two days when we called we were told they had not heard from Bill and there was no update they could offer they would leave him a message. around 7:15pm we received an email stating we were not accepted because there is a busy street near by and this dog is quick and agile and could escape. This was not the temperament of the dog we held at their kennel and feel they were just looking for an excuse to deny us. I get the sense they put their best looking dogs up front in order to attract people who they can try to con the animals with poor health off to their cliental.

Amazing place

We adopted 2 dogs from MLAR in the last year. We appreciated how much time they spent with us to find 'a good match' and we were really surprised that there's no adoption fee. Our experiences with the volunteers, adoption counselor, Megan, Nancy , Betsy and Bill Smith were all positive. MLAR clearly cares about the animals in their care and wants nothing more than to help these pups ( and cats and rabbits) find their fur-ever home. We highly recommend MLAR.

I am in awe at these reviews of MLAR People do not seem to understand that good and reputable rescuers care about the animals and not the feelings of the people wanting to adopt them! One person writes she went to CCSPCA and the process was "easy" Of course it was easy..they do not care who adopts as long as animals get out. Its the same with all shelters/spca's If one is not approved at MLAR then it is with good reason! Whether your fence is in poor shape, you have an invisible fence but your dog does not need the collar because he/she knows the boundaries, you have cats that live outdoors, your pets are overdue with required shots..and the list goes on. Do you think spca's conduct home visits? Do they call references? Everyone that has been denied has been denied with good reason. MLAR is strict with adoptions because they care so much about their animals. You think you could do a better job? Open your own rescue and then spend almost a million dollars in vet care for ALL the sick and dying animals you rescue from animal control and spca's. Until you walk in their shoes, do not judge. funny how only the folks that were not approved have something bad to say

Main Line Animal Rescue is a w...

Main Line Animal Rescue is a wonderful place to adopt, the place is clean and the grounds are beautiful. These animals have a great place to live even if no one adopts them. I had no problem adopting 2 beautiful girls. I would recommend MLAR to anyone

that is wiling to adopt and that I feel are responsible people and that they will do right by them.
