A family member's 5 yr old son was savagely abused both physically and emotionally while under the care of the Winston Salem center. The classroom teacher not only physically abused him, she also taunted him, encouraged the other children to ridicule and strike him. She would tell him she called the police because he would cry after these incidents. She told him the police were coming to take him away because he's a crybaby. The center is equipped with surveillance cameras, the center director was obviously negligent in not seeing the abuse on camera, plus the assistant in the classroom sat by and did nothing to put a stop to the teacher's anticts. Both classroom teachers have been indicted on child abuse and or negligence charges. However, the center allowed both teachers to continue employment for some time period after the allegations were brought forth.

The owner and only administrative person at the daycare does not care about the children or employees. All of her qualified, experienced, and caring staff members have quit. Most of her new staff have no credentials and she does not train them properly. My heart goes out to the children that are left. I had to find other childcare for my baby.

Love the fact that this center is 24/7. Unfortunately they have a high turnover rate. My child had more than 7 different teachers in less than a year of attending this center. Communication between parent, teacher & owner was horrible. Called center on several occasions & the phone rang for more thank 5 minutes. Lack of professionalism & customer service sucks from the front office to the classrooms.

My children left this location in March and i have never been more satisfied with our decision to remove them. They were at this location for a year and a half due to the extended hours we needed but this is a babysitting service and not an academically based facility. They met the bare state requirements. Spanish and music classes are offered at an additional fee, art work is minimal and consistency is non existent. Few of the teachers are phenomenal but turnover is extremely high and you may or may not have "that" teacher for the day. There have been several times at pick up when i had to check several classrooms for my children. teachers and children are shuffled around too frequently. one teacher quit during the day and left the children alone. The facility itself is nice and classrooms are spacious and colorful. the location really needs better organization and more emphasis put into the daily routine. director is slow on correcting issues.

I placed my child here as a newborn due to the fact that Sugar and Spice offered part time day care. There were several things I liked about the center. The facilites are fairly new, security in and out was well controlled, I truly liked her teacher, and the staff seemed to make a concerted effort to wash hands, etc, to keep the children healthy. With that said, overall, I was not overly pleased with the center. The staff were slow address concerns, there were consistently problems with my billing, and I felt the CONSTANT shuffeling around of kids/teachers from room to room limited the routine and sense of stability my child should have. Also, I was told that the children would have a daily routine which included going outside to play DAILY. To my knowledge, outside play time only occurred twice in a matter of 6 months.

My children have been at this location for almost two years but will be leaving soon. When they first started i was hesitant with the amount of staff and people coming in and out of the building (we were used to a smaller daycare). The extended hours is the only reason we even came to this location. Two years later we MUST remove our children. In 2012 alone they have had more turnover then I have ever seen, the rating has dropped to a four star, professionalism of the teachers are horendous and overall i am completely dissatisfied. My children need routine and daily there is a new teacher or they are in a new room. Nothing is consistent! The academics in the infant-two yr old room is non-existent compared to our other daycare that taught sign language, spanish etc. The 3 yr old class has little academics as well. THIS LOCATION IS NOT WHERE YOU WANT YOUR CHILD TO GO FOR A HEAD START IN EDUCATION. lastly, i really don't like this place but my kids did survive for two years...

For a 24/7 daycare they close to much for small holidays. I love the teachers. But not everyone has every small Holiday off. That's why you pay for daycare so that you can go to work, not every business now closes on every Holiday. The thing is you pay for a week and you still get charged for the days they are closed. I feel this is not right to the parents who have to find other care on these days so we are paying double on those days they close.

I love Sugar N Spice daycare, they are awesome. I have two children we moved from a different state one of my children was never in school, after the first day drop off was easy. They both love it and look forward every morning to going to school. The teachers are wonderful and caring. They show that while I am present and my child tells me about it when we get home. I would not change choosing sugar n spice for any other daycare. They have so many events, activities for the kids and i love it. Very diverse school and awesome training/teaching.

Too much turnover when the children need routine & stability. My child has been back & forth with potty training because of all the changes. They also combined classes which is unfair 2 the younger kids & older kids as far as development. Director is also never available to address concerns.

I'm thrilled! my 2 year old just started. he cried when i left. i called 30 min later & he was out on bikes having awesome time. when i picked him up he said " I FUN, I FUN, I HAD FUN" this was his VERY FIRST time ever being away from mommy. i had a harder time then he did! he ate ALL his lunch (hard for him to do lol) he made friends. when i got thr he pointed at both girls next to him & said "friend, friend" & he told me he wants to go back tommorrow. i'm so so so so proud of my boy. his teacher is AWESOME! i'm so excited. & i feel like million pounds have been lifted off my shoulders. its hard to find a GREAT child care facility...THIS IS ONE!

This child care center is the best. It has a solid foundation of family, education, and cultural diversity. My son has attended for 2 years and he has learned so much from his peers, teachers, and staff. Highly recommend this program for any parent who wants to make sure their child is serviced with a smile, love, and knowledge.
