Overall

I waited 2 months to get an appointment. I live in Hilo (about an 1 1/2 hr drive) so I requested 1/2 day off. Two weeks prior to my appointment her office calls and says they have to reschedule my appointment. I was frustrated yet understanding - scheduling mistakes do happen and I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I wish I hadnt and had just cancelled my appointment and asked my primary care practitioner to refer me to someone else! I agree to a different appointment date. I get 4 reminder calls - strange and overkill. I requested the intake patient paperwork be mailed to me twice - inititally before my first scheduled appointment and again when they called to reschedule my first appointment. I confirmed my mailing address with them both times. NO paper work ever got to me. I got to my appointment 20 minutes early figuring I would have to fill out the intake form since it hadnt been mailed to me as requested. The staff acted irritated with me when I didnt have my paperwork filled out already?! Then I waited 2 hours and 40 minutes after my scheduled appointment time to see the doctor. When I finally did see her, she was very nonchalant about my having to wait over 2 and 1/2 hours. I don't know if she was nonchalant about it because it is a common occurence in her office or because she figures eye specialists/surgeons on the Big Island are in large demand or something else? Regardless of why - an authentic apology for keeping her clients waiting over 2 1/2 hours is a reasonable expectation. If you can get your primary care practitioner to refer you to a different eye specialist - even one on Oahu - DO!!!!! I could have flown to Oahu, seen an eye specialist there, flown home and spent LESS time than I did driving from Hilo, waiting over 2 1/2 hrs and then the drive home. The bumbling, clueless, rude staff at Island Eye Care and the rude Doctor (Susan Sneft) are enough for me to write this review (which i very RARELY do) and hopefully help potential patients from having to deal with her or her staff!!!! If i could give a NEGATIVE value star i would!! Beware

Overall

The doctor wrote down the wrong prescription, two weeks later I received glasses with one lense 4 times thicker than the other. Twice I drove from ocean view to kona to have my eyes reexamed, but both times they had to cancel after I drove the 55 miles there.

I no longer have the time or patience to deal with the man is their optical shop.....go else where if you want a good doctor, and your glasses on time and hassle free!
