Vaccination
Rabies Vaccinations- Rabies vaccines are required at 12 to 16 weeks of age in Indiana. Your pet will then have a booster at one year of age and then every year or 3 years depending on which vaccine is used. Here at Fort Harrison Veterinarians we use Imrab3 which is a 3 year vaccine. Don’t worry we will help you remember when your pet’s Rabies vaccine is due by sending you an email or post card reminder, just let us know which you prefer.
Veterinary Ophthalmology
We offer a variety of testing for the eyes from staining to look for scratches or ulcers to tonometry to test for Glaucoma. Dr. Wheeler offers many different surgical procedures of the eye.

Your new Puppy or Kitten will have a series of visits to see Dr. Wheeler the 1st year of their life. It is usually 3 or 4 visits for booster vaccines but that can change depending on the breed and size of the puppy or Kitten. We will start with 6-8 week old puppy or Kitten and go through the time line! We will do a fecal at each visit until we get a negative sample, some intestinal parasites can take a couple of rounds of medications to get rid of them.

OLEANDER- Oleander is an evergreen shrub that contains a natural poison that effects the heart. The toxin is like digoxin which is a heart medication. Symptoms include gastrointestinal upset and cardiac symptoms which can be life threatening.
Kidney Disease Treatment
LILIES- All lilies can cause some symptoms; some are more dangerous than others. Tiger, Day, Easter, Japanese Snow and Asiatic lilies are all highly toxic. A small ingestion of 3 leaves or petals can cause kidney failure, Especially in cats.

Laser Surgery
We offer laser surgery as an option for a more comfortable surgical experience. This means less pain, less swelling, less bleeding and a faster recovery time.
Declawing
-Patients are released between 4 pm and 6 pm the same day. Most surgeries go home the same day. Cat declaws always stay over night and some of our more complex surgeries do also.
Spaying and Neutering
Dr. Wheeler does a variety of both soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries. From basic spays and neutering to more complex procedures.

Laboratory Services
– Once you drop your pet off we will take a small blood sample to do a pre-anesthetic blood blood work. We will test the Liver, Kidneys and Glucose to make sure your pet is healthy enough for surgery. Your pet’s age will determine which test Dr. Wheeler will do. If you pet has had blood work within the last 2 months and everything was normal Dr. Wheeler may take those results and not do additional testing.
X-Ray
Dental Radiology
We offer complete dental cleaning and polishing. Dental x-rays are available and help us determine the severity and extent of dental disease. This will help in our decision to remove or save questionable teeth.
