Big Water Grille

Great ambiance with nice views, food was a little lacking and service was decent but not great.

The food and the view were amazing, sadly the kitchen service was incredibly slow. We had reservations at 7:30, arrived 5 minutes early and were immediately seated. I had reserved through Open Table and requested a quiet table with a view. As you can see by the photo, the view was wonderful. The table was probably quieter than most.

We ordered fairly quickly, and our bottle of wine was brought out promptly. It then took 45 minutes to bring a cold flat bread appetizer. The waitress apologized saying they had a large party that had taken precedence. The flat bread was a very interesting and tasty mix of mint pesto, arugula, cheese and roasted asparagus.

About 15 minutes after we had finished the appetizer, the waitress came back again apologizing for the delay due to the large party. My husband asked if large parties were given priority as there is a fixed (20%) gratuity, the waitress got flustered and kept saying that it was not her fault; she did offer to bring us soup but we declined as we were not in a soup mood. (Interesting though, she never offered to comp the appetizer or dessert or anything) Minutes later our dinner was ready.

The seared sea scallops were quite good, but the Chicken Marsala was magnificent. It was literally the best Chicken Marsala either of us had ever had. For the price point (high) you definitely expect a better overall experience, however the food and the views were so wonderful that I would likely go back again. I might check first to make sure they didn’t have any large parties scheduled.

Serene atmosphere, especially on the patio overlooking the trees. Food was fresh and good; staff friendly. Pricey, unfortunately.
