The Huntington West Virginia Housing Authority provides a variety of housing programs to meet the needs of more than 5,000 individuals and families. It manages more than 900 apartments and houses that are available for lease. The authority also has over 1,500 units that are available through a subsidized rental program. Its Housing Choice Voucher Rental Assistance Program assists low-income families, senior citizens and individuals with disabilities in paying their monthly rental bills. The authority s Family Self-Sufficiency program encourages communities to develop local strategies to help eligible families obtain employment that will lead to economic independence and self-sufficiency. Its program includes several services, such as child care, transportation, job training, employment and homeownership counseling, household skills training, and substance and alcohol abuse treatment.
