OrthodonticsDr. Krell feels all dentistry should be "cosmetic", and he has participated in the development of new cosmetic materials and techniques. He offers his patients a full spectrum of dental care, including complete smile reconstruction, implant placement and restoration, laser dentistry, advanced periodontal therapy, endodontics (root canal treatment), home and in-office tooth lightening, athletic mouth guards and splints, and orthodontics (Invisalign).
Invisalign OrthodonticsMastership in the Academy of General Dentistry, an award earned by only about 2,100 dentists world-wide who have completed the necessary 1,100 hours of continuing dental education. Additionally, he was one of the first general dentists certified to offer the Invisalign technique to his patients.
Dental ImplantsA bone graft may be required to create a stable base for dental implant placement, to halt the progression of gum disease or to make the smile appear more aesthetically pleasing.
BridgesDental bridges are highly durable and will last many years, however they may need replacement or need to be re-cemented due to normal wear.
FillingsThere are many types of filling materials available, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. You and your dentist can discuss the best options for restoring your teeth. Composite fillings, along with silver amalgam fillings, are the most widely used today. Because composite fillings are tooth colored, they can be closely matched to the color of existing teeth, and are more aesthetically suited for use in front teeth or the more visible areas of the teeth.
VeneersVeneers are very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and attractive smile.
CrownsAs an added convenience, we have our very own CEREC system at our Houston dental office. This is a computer-assisted design and milling machine that creates custom restorations in a single visit! We offer one-day crowns so you can have your permanent restoration immediately, instead of requiring a temporary. If you are opting for a larger procedure, we also have a digital smile simulator, where we can show you what your new smile will look like!
Root Canal TreatmentThough the prospect of more endodontic surgery might not be pleasant, root canal retreatment is fairly simple. In general, the whole treatment can be completed in 1-3 visits.
DenturesA denture is a removable dental appliance replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissue. They are made to closely resemble your natural teeth and may even enhance your smile.
Tooth WhiteningTeeth whitening (or bleaching) is a simple, non-invasive dental treatment used to change the color of natural tooth enamel and is an ideal way to enhance the beauty of your smile.
Cosmetic DentistryAt William L. Krell, DDS, our team has been providing premium cosmetic dentistry in Houston since 1976. We strongly believe in using quality materials and high-tech equipment to bring our patients the smiles they have always wanted. We know what an impact a beautiful smile can have on a person's self-confidence. People who are unhappy with their teeth may hide them or tend to show them less. Come and visit Dr. Bill Krell to see the difference he can make with your teeth!
Space MaintainersIf baby bottle tooth decay becomes too severe, Dr. Krell may be unable to save the affected tooth. In such cases, the damaged tooth is removed, and a space maintainer is provided to prevent misalignment of the remaining teeth.
Teeth CleaningWhether your dental needs are a complete exam and cleaning, a full-mouth restoration, or anything in between, we promise to provide you and your family with exceptional care as we enhance the natural beauty of your smiles. Our team welcomes patients of all ages into our practice. As a children's dentist, Dr. Krell caters to kids and offers games, toys, and children's books to entertain while waiting. Upon entering the room for their teeth cleaning, dental exam, or other procedure, patients can choose to watch a movie or cartoons on the television.
Fluoride TreatmentPrevention also includes regular dental exams, cleanings, and x-rays. Sealants and fluoride are also great preventive treatments that help protect the teeth.
Dental SealantsAs a Houston dental practice, we are true believers that preventive care and education are the keys to optimal dental health. We strive to provide “ dental health care ” vs. “ disease care ”. That’s why we focus on thorough exams – checking the overall health of your teeth and gums, performing oral cancer exams, and taking digital x-rays only when necessary. We also know that routine cleanings, flossing, sealants, and fluoride are all helpful in preventing dental disease. Not only are we focused on the beauty of your smile, we’re also concerned about your health. A review of your medical history can help us stay informed of your overall health, any new medications, and any illnesses that may impact your dental health.
Oral Cancer ScreeningDuring bi-annual check-ups, the dentist and hygienist will thoroughly look for changes and lesions in the mouth, but a dedicated comprehensive oral cancer screening should be performed at least once each year.
Dental ExaminationDental radiographs (x-rays) are essential, preventative, diagnostic tools that provide valuable information not visible during a regular dental exam. Dentists and dental hygienists use this information to safely and accurately detect hidden dental abnormalities and complete an accurate treatment plan. Without x-rays, problem areas may go undetected.
X-raysDental radiographs, also known as dental X-rays, are important diagnostic tools in pediatric dentistry. Dental radiographs allow the dentist to see and treat problems like childhood cavities, tooth decay, orthodontic misalignment, bone injuries, and bone diseases before they worsen. These issues would be difficult (in some cases impossible) to see with the naked eye during a clinical examination.
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
Ridge AugmentationRidge augmentation – Ridges in the bone can occur due to trauma, injury, birth defects or severe periodontal disease. The bone graft is used to fill in the ridge and make the jawbone a uniform shape.
Bone GraftingAutogenous bone graft – In this type of graft the bone is removed from elsewhere in the body and implanted in the mouth. Common donor sites for bone grafting include the iliac section of the pelvis, the chin and the posterior third molar areas of the jaw. If large amounts of bone need to be harvested, the hip or the shin bone (tibia) is generally used.
