When the waiter pulled out the table, yes the whole entire table, so that I, in my little black dress, didn't have to do the whole unlady like" scooch bounce, scooch bounce" thing to get to the center of the half circle booth that we were seated at, well, let's just say I fell madly and deeply in love with Morton's. (Just as an aside... when it became clear that I had to use the little ladies room they came back, those wonderful waiters... sigh, and offered to move the table again-- I declined but giggled at the sweetness). The meats here are amazing. As are the desserts. And the drinks. And I know we had salads as good fine dining patrons should but I really couldn't tell ya much about them as I really don't recall a single detail. The ambiance is okay, although I couldn't help but feel that for the price I expected a bit more sparkle in the decor, but it is a steakhouse so maybe I just needed to see it from that angle. Parking is free and easy as Morton's is a located in the uber upscale section of the Alamoana Shopping Mall INSIDER Tip: There is a private elevator up to Morton's-- it's just that it's a little tricky to find and I believe it comes out facing the parking garage so even more so you kind of have to know where to look for it so perhaps ask when you call for reservations. This is sort of a dining "experience" and with a dinner for two bill that was over $300 dollars, well you really don't wanna rush things, so don't go hungry, or with company you aren't happy to have a long sit with but, do prepare yourself for a good slow meal and enjoy.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Morton's the Steakhouse in Honolulu. I don't think I could have been happier with the food, service or atmosphere. I think I had the best shrimp I've EVER tasted in their Shrimp Alexander. I highly recommend it! The cocktails were generous, and the dessert sinfully wonderful. Altogether a fine experience.
I had had the worst experiance in my vacation to Oahu and this was the last thing i had planned before leaving. Now I know why I say ""Save the best for last."" This was ot THE best meal Ive had, but its coming in close. The service is impecible. The food is rearkable. Dessert is heavenly. The ambiance is steller. The only problem was finding it. Morton's is inside the Ala Moana mall and finding the floor its on is hard. But the stores on the way to finding it are nice.
We ended up actually ordering our meals exactly 50 minutes after we were seated. We were hungry, and didn't want to wait that long, but really didn't have a choice, as it was our first time and our server insisted on showing us the meat cart and explaining everything to us before we got menus (we finally got menus over a half hour after being seated). Ok, for the food, the $88 Porterhouse for two was a very good steak, but I have a hard time saying it was better than much cheaper steaks I've had at other restaurants, hough. I'd tell you about the asparagus we ordered, but it never arrived. We ended up being comped, salads, after dinner drinks (which we declined), and dessert. The dessert we got was a hot chocolate souffle cake, which was absolutely fabulous - easily the best part of the meal.
Pros: The food presentation and quality are second to none. Service by staff was both personal and professional. An excellent place to entertain your clientele. Have two very nice boardrooms for private functions. One of the best wine selections on Oahu. Mix a very good martini and is a nice place to meet after work for either the Waikiki or downtown professionals. Valet parking is a nice touch. Cons: No view
