Overall
This is the place! It's recently rated #1 in Honolulu.

My wife and I ate dinner there, Sunday evening, 10/17/2010. We have been to Alan Wong's (also great food - 1/2 again as expensive), and several other 'Foodie suggested' restaurants. The service was great, the food delicious. Among the many highlights - they have a unique approach to the wine (at least by the glass). Our waiter allowed us to try several different wines to determine what we'd like to go with our meal. Everyone was gracious - from the hostess to all of the wait staff, each course explained and delivered in a timely fashion. We don't understand why there isn't standing room only for this gem.

A local favorite of mine

Dinner at Chef Russell Sui's casually stylish restaurant at the crest of Kaimuki's culinary mecca might start with his signature appetizer, Ahi Katsu , followed by savory nori-wrapped salmon with a soy-sake glaze, New York steak alaea pan-seared with garlic Hawaiian salt and butter, or pan-seared Chinese-style Chilean sea bass. Superb desserts include warm chocolate cake or an awesome Mile-High Waialae Pie.

A gem of a restaurant on Waialae Avenue.

We have been to 3660 On The Rise a handful of times now. It appears that it is a rather popular local haunt, probably because of its location away from Waikiki in a more residential area. It's not a place for a quiet, romantic meal as the place gets jumping during peak times. There is a lot of conversation, but not to the point of being annoying. Parking can get a bit tight, but where isn't it in Honolulu. The food is worth the effort. The dishes, especially with the fresh seafood, are imaginative and tasteful. Get there early, however, as a couple of times they ran out of the special for the evening (they sounded incredible). Enjoy!
