        General Info
        The Wild Ginger Inn is centrally located in Hilo, which is on the east side of the Big Island. One of the most affordable accommodations in town with free Wi-Fi and Hawaiian Style Continental Breakfast. We offer many different levels of comfort including regular hotel rooms, indoor and outdoor hostels (private and dorm), and tenting. The Wild Ginger Inn has an old fashion country atmosphere that reflects its era. Originally, the building was a 1920's sugar cane plantation workers house. In the 1950's it was converted into an Inn with 27 private bedrooms with baths. In keeping with the original look and feel, you'll experience the Hawaiian laid back, simple living style with a relaxing ocean view. Although we have not completely updated to join the 21st century, some modern day comforts have been provided in a few upgraded rooms such as a cable TV, mini refrigerator, and microwave.         Overall

        Help, lead me to the Wild Ginger Inn, and, after a whirlwind journey around the islands, we returned for our last night in Hilo. The simplicity of the check-in process exemplifies the concept behind the place. It's no frills but you don't feel like you're missing anything. It's within walking distance of several main attractions in Hilo (the waterfront, the farmer's market, the Tsunami Museum, Two Ladies Kitchen, and so on). The only issue was confusion about where one parks when staying at the PI.



        All in all, I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else in Hilo. Hands down my favorite hotel in all of the island.

        Overall

        I entered this hostel with a little bit of hesitation because of the rough looks. This place breathes history! It was a busy weekend in Hilo and they didn t have any hotel rooms left so they put me into their brand new hostel called the lava pit downstairs by the little river and I loved it. It looks like you re in the middle of the jungle but still you re right in the middle of the biggest city on the hawaiian island and at night this magic comes alive !

        The coqui frog start singing his song. it get s pretty loud but I love it and it hides the noise of the cars in the streets in the neighbourhoud. After a while the frog s chanting gets into a pleasant rhythm and the you dream away. these where my last days in Hawaii, in the best hostel I could imagine !!

        Overall

        Within a five minute walk from down town Hilo. The Wild Ginger Inn is ideal for



        backpackers and for people on a budget. From hotel rooms to tenting The Wild Ginger



        Inn provides many different levels of comfort. I am a local and have worked at



        numerous hotels and condos along the Kohala Coast. The Wild Ginger Inn screams "old-



        Hawaiian style". If you are looking to relax and get away from the "hustle and



        bustle" and "all things modern", this is the place to be. The Wild Ginger Inn isn't



        for just for anybody. It's simple yet unique in its own special way. It's quiet,



        private and serene. I'm a simple person and I often enjoy my stay in the tenting area



        with a nearby BBQ lounge and picnic table. An open air kitchen provided with cookware



        just nearby. The Wild Ginger in is Family owned and operated. Mountain bikes are



        available to rent and there is even a outdoor workout area. Internet stations are



        available but if traveling with a laptop it's never a problem to get online here.



        There are a few long term residents that live here. They are very friendly and



        accommodating. What I look forward to is the coffee and freshly baked banana bread.
