The Highland Home is located on Walnut Street in Highland that ends at the beautiful woods surrounding the complex. Highland is a rural community of 9,500 people located approximately 35 miles east of St. Louis, Missouri. Highland, Illinois is one of the oldest Swiss settlements in the United States. It was founded in 1831 by Swiss pioneers from Sursee, Switzerland. Located 35 miles east of St. Louis just off of Interstate 70, Highland has a population of 9,919 residents (as of the 2010 census)
