About Dr. Gentile Dr. Andrea Gentile knew in high school that she wanted to inspire health. ā€œI wanted a career that each day had new challenges, where I could engage in problem solving with each individual case. I also wanted to be able to develop relationships with each patient and inspire them to choose lifestyles that are healthy and fulfilling.ā€ As an otolaryngology expert, Dr. Gentile problem-solves every day. ā€œI treat a variety of problems of the ears, nose, and throat both medically or surgically. I chose a career in ENT because of the interesting and complicated anatomy. Also, while ENT is a surgical specialty, there is a vast array of diverse conditions we get to treat and surgical procedures we can perform.ā€ Dr. Gentile received her bachelor of science in biology from the University of Kentucky before pursuing her doctorate in medicine at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Dr. Gentile completed her residency in otolaryngology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She has joined Beacon Medical Group because ā€œit was clear that the people in this system were very proud of what they do and showed that by working hard and providing the best care they can to their patients.ā€ Dr. Gentileā€™s trust and respect are reflected in her practice philosophy: ā€œMy philosophy on how to practice medicine is that it should be a team approach between myself and my patients. Together we can come up with a plan on how to tackle any issue. I believe it is my responsibility to fully educate my patients on their otolaryngology conditions and give them all the options on how to address that problem. However, the final decision on how to proceed should be determined by the patient.ā€ While Dr. Gentile hopes her patients learn that she is always on their side and will fight to give them the best care possible, she has also learned from her patients. ā€œMy patients have taught me that each person and situation is unique, and to truly care for them means to listen to their story and use what I have learned over the years to tailor the medicine to their needs.ā€ In Her Own Words What was your first job growing up? What do you remember about it? My first job was as a lifeguard. I remember it was my first experience in medicine; it was where I first learned first aid and CPR. What is your favorite food? Movie? What was your best/worst subjects in school growing up? My favorite food is peanut butter. My favorite movie is The Avengers. My best subjects in school were the science classes, my worst subjects were language arts. If you could sit down to dinner with anyone (alive or deceased) who would it be and why? Neil deGrasse Tyson. I have always had a fascination with space. I have read Neil deGrasse Tysonā€™s books, listened to his podcasts and watched his shows. He is such a great educator and can discuss the complexity of space in a way that is easy to understand. I would love to spend a few hours learning from him. In addition to medicine, what are you passionate about? What are your hobbies, interests? I love cooking and experimenting with different recipes. I also love exploring new cities and trying new and exotic types of foods from each place I visit. I also love being active; walking my two dogs and biking. What is something most people donā€™t know about you? My favorite music genre is hard rock.

Do not go here. Unorganized and incompetent scheduling staff. On two separate occasions, I was more than disappointed by this facility. My first bad incident with this clinic, I was scheduled for an appointment, had to wait in the waiting room for almost two hours, was placed in a waiting room for the doctor, where I was forgotten about for another hour and a half until I left the room and sought out staff. Today, I have serious issues with my gallbladder and am in a lot of pain-- I was scheduled to have an appointment at 2:45 pm and upon arrival, I was told my doctor left to deliver a baby-- fine, I understand that. But one would logically surmise that backup staff would be there to take care of me. Nope! Not the case. I've missed a day of work, commuted a half hour in agony, only to be told my doctor wasn't there and there was no doctor that could see me. It's obvious that there's very little logical planning going on with the scheduling system, as I've been the victim of it twice. I will NEVER go there again and I don't recommend it to anyone else either, unless they're a glutton for punishment--then, by all means, make your appointment.
