Cove Campgrounds

Family of five with three children under 12. Three nights in an unpowered tent site. Couldn't be happier! Campsite was neat and had plenty of trees to allow tying thing up or hanging laundry lines. Site was fairly flat and had ample parking. It rained the first night and the roads got a bit soggy, but still manuverable in the mini van! We stayed Memorial Day weekend and the place was packed! Swimming was great! Everyone was very well behaved, no drunk disorderlies that we saw! Diving platform got a bit crowded but lifeguards kept it in line. Fishing was fun! From shore we caught 20+ variety of 5-8 inch fish. Firewood was $5 for eight large pieces. Campsite had extra long tables and fire ring. Rear bath house was 10 toilets 10 showers. Water was just before hot, don't want people to burn themselves! Had to drive for showers, but outhouse was within walking distance. Clean and sturdy and most were stocked with toilet paper! Staff was quick to address you and they are pros at the check in procedures! Very well organized! Horseshoes, volleyball, nets and more to keep the kids busy. We didn't use the boats, too many people to make it worth paddling for (no motors, all arm power). The Cove was quiet and relaxing and yet only 15 minutes from Walmart. Definitely worth the trip!

The Cove is only about 1.5 hrs from Washington DC, yet you would think that your hundreds of miles away. The Cove has lots of activites to make you forget about everything else going on in the world. Several campgrounds, lakes, ponds, swimming, fishing, hiking.... Its lots of fun at a very reasonable price.
