Kennel care

I have been taking my dog here for the past 6 years, for long weekend and week long stays. I am always greeted with professionalism and smiles, by people who genuinely love the animals they are caring for. My dog has always received the best care at this facility, and they are always willing to accommodate my needs. My pet appears happy , content and well cared for when I return to get her, and she is always eager to go in when I take her. I recommend this facility if you adore and cherish your animal, and want personal attention and care for them in your absence. While there are many other places RO choose from, none have me with the personal attention I receive here.

Would not allow me to proceed without a star rating......DESERVES 0!!!! If you love your pet, DO NOT under any circumstance take him/her to this kennel. It is TERRIBLE!!!! The facility is disgusting and the staff are despicable. My family's dogs were left here for a week, during which time the following happened: both dogs lost a considerable amount of weight, both dogs got FLEAS (They were both taken to the vet a few days prior to being boarded to be checked over & receive their kennel cough vaccines. They did not at that time, nor have they EVER had fleas prior to this), one dog was returned with areas on and around his head that were missing fur & chafed (as though a muzzle was used & the dog tried to remove it. This dog also had no ability to bark upon returning home.), both were very withdrawn and seemingly exhausted. The disgusting people who work here were fantastic at assuring us that all needs and requirements for the dogs would be met while in their care, but in reality our dogs were greatly mistreated, malnourished, and everything that we had been told was only "lip service". When these concerns were taken to the woman who runs the hole, she fabricated stories, seemed unconcerned and actually suggested that we bring the dogs BACK in for inspection by her. As if we would even CONSIDER subjecting our pups to being brought back!! PLEASE save you and your fur family the anguish and trouble by finding a reputable and caring facility for boarding.......not this terrible place - IT SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN!

First let me tell you about my dogs, Chloe, a Kuvasz, and Ben, a great Pyr rescue. Chloe has major anxiety issues and is on medication for it, she is very skiddish, and Ben is just a big teddy bear! They can not be separated, or Chloe freaks out, and Chloe doesnt like too many people. My family has never taken vacations together because we had no where for the dogs to go, then a friend recommended Maria and Shelia, thank God for them! I brought the dogs to the kennel to meet them a few times and Chloe took an immediate liking to Maria! (she warmed up to Shelia also) I couldnt believe it! and, Yes, there are cats roaming around, my son loves them! They do run a private sanctuary, they take care of animals that would otherwise be put down. There are birds, rabbits, and turtles also. I have to drag my son out of there! he loves spending time with the animals! The first time I left my babies there I was very anxious! I called everyday for the first 3 days and was reassured they were doing great. I finally relaxed and stopped calling because I felt very confident in their care.

I was and am very happpy with the care they receive at Dodge Kennels. Since then, we have taken 3 family vacations!! Maria and Shelia are very kind and caring, they give your animals love and special attention that they deserve and that they wouldnt receive at other kennels. We had a Samoyed years ago and used to board her on Transit road in Lancaster and she did not like it there. They left her in a crate most of the day, and she did not receive the love and caring that she would have gotten at Dodge kennels. It may not look like a 5 star resort, but the animals get 5 star care!

This positive review is coming...

This positive review is coming from a patron of this kennel! My dog is well taken care of by myself & this kennel. Maria & Sheila are devoted to their animals. They also run a sanctuary, at their own expense, for unwanted animals.

I did contact the SPCA regarding this kennel. The complaint that was called in was checked out & found to be unfounded. If any of these accusations of cruelty to animals were true, why didn’t the SPCA shut down this kennel? The SPCA # is 875-7360.

It seems there is someone who owes this kennel a substantial sum of money & refuses to pay the bill. I suspect by the timing of these slanderous reviews that the motive is to intimidate the kennel so that it does not take legal action for non-payment. How awful to use the Yellow Pages to make anonymous & cowardly accusations that are untrue.

If you care about your pet eve...

If you care about your pet even a little bit, you WILL NOT even consider this place. It is a horror show! It's obvious the "good" reviews are the owners & friends of owners. Don't believe me.... then stop on in & check it out yourself. You most likely won't either be let in or if they actually let you in won't show you the place. Once you leave in disgust, it will take some time for the smell to leave your senses. Again, don't believe me.... contact the Town Of Amherst & the SPCA and inquire about complaints & investigations against them.

It's a sham that I have to even give 1 star to review this place. How it remains open & operational is beyond me.

If you are looking for a lovin...

If you are looking for a loving experience for your beloved canine companion this is it. True, it is an aged building but it has a quirky charm all its own. We have been taking our dogs there for 2 years. The staff truly love their boarders. Dogs do not care if the building is older. They care whether they are loved.

If I had to tell someone about...

If I had to tell someone about this boarding facility I would tell you I wouldn't leave a stuffed animal there, non the less a REAL one.

My friend's dogs came out smelling like death, with swollen hocks from being in a confined area, hair loss, and open wounds due to being forced to lay in their own urine and feces...It was beyond deplorable!

Anyone looking for a boarding kennel, please look else where, You can also always contact your local SPCA and see if there have ever been any complaints filed against a place you're considering boarding your animal.

The staff is kind but it doesn't make up for the neglect animals endure there.

I cannot understand this revie...

I cannot understand this review by becky koby. I have been to Dodge Boarding Kennels with my animals many times and this review does not make sense to me. First of all, the cats in the lobby are sanctuary animals and are allowed to roam free. Their food and water dishes are located on the floor (some under tables) and cannot be seen from the windows. There are other animals in the sanctuary who cannot survive in A/C conditions. That is why the cats roam free to hang out where they are comfortable. There is no way that these animals are being neglected.

Second, there is no way to get to the back of the kennel from the front without going through the lobby. There are stairs to the side of the building but they are not part of the kennel and you cannot see the back of the kennel from them. The two barns (and the land behind them) and the other outbuildings do not have anything to do with the kennel. Nor can you see the kennel area from them. The owner of the kennel does not live in the house located in front the kennel. The kennel is a family owned and operated business. Appointments are necessary because of the sanctuary. As far as not being called back - I don't understand that comment either - I have always been (and everyone I have known who has used the kennel) called back within a few hours, at the most 24 hours after leaving a message either on the land line message machine or the emergency cell number voice mail. As far as the lobby being closed at 10:30 - I do know that there are times when the sanctuary animals have to be taken to the vet office and this could be why the lobby was locked. This is another reason why appointments are necessary for this family run business. Dodge Boarding Kennels may not be a state of the art kennel but honestly you will not find another kennel that cares for the animals with more love and devotion. I just don't understand this other review!

i have been bringing my pets t...

i have been bringing my pets to dodge boarding kennels forever. i just love the staff they are always so nice to my entire family. each and every time we bring our pets to board we always meet a new pet that the kennel has taken into their animal no kill sanctuary. this time we met a 18 year old female cat named scob. she was taken in just the other day because her family could no longer keep her after 18 years because they were moving and could not bring her along. so they would have been forced to put her down because of her age, when one of the workers their found out she offered to take scob in to live out the rest of her years at the sanctuary. the cat scob already is very loved and fits right in as though she has been part of the sanctuary for years. maria said scob will never be put down and she herself will keep her as her own because of the age. this story did not surprise any of my family because all of the animals that have not been adopted by a family get so much love from all the staff there and so much attention .all the animals that have been taken in have such a sad story and the staff works so very hard to meet all their needs . they do it all out of their own pockets with no outside help. i personally find the whole situation amazing. the girls who work the sanctuary and front desk are two really amazing human beings to know. they treat all animals that come to board or doggie daycare with such love and compassion. they really love all animals and treat all animals that come to board like their own family. my family never worries when we go away because we know our animals are being cared for and loved one on one with a total personal touch beyond any other kennel that we have ever used their services. my family and i cannot say enough wonderful things about this place.i thank god the day my friend told my family about dodge boarding kennels. the prices are so reasonably for all that the staff does also. it is an older place but the love that comes from within is truly amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
