About two months ago i was in the market to build my own ar15. I was recommended by a friend that Irvington Arms in Fremont, Ca was the right place to go for lower receivers. I took his advance and went the next day. I arrived later the next day and came with cash to buy my lower reciever, magpul buttstock, and a MIAD Grip. As i entered the store both other gentlemen did not greet me nor ask me what i was looking for. The customer service was sadly terrible. I asked the gentlemen if i could buy these items and i was not aware that you had to be 21 to buy the receiver which was ok with me. I told him my mother will come in the next day to buy it for me and pick up the rest of the parts because they had to be ordered. He took my name down " placed my order 11/10/2011" and i was told that the parts will arrived once the 10 day wait period was over. I kindly thanked the two men. My mother came in the next day as i told them and as she walked in " being a woman" they looked at her differently as if she was being forced to go there and buy a gun. My ethnicity is hispanic and my mother was approached by one of the workers asking her if someone forced her to come here to buy a weapon because she looked middle eastern. My mother told him that my son came in yesterday paid for these parts "she had a list" and i came to sign the papers for the stripped lower receiver. They took pictures of her face and id to "ensure" nothing was terrorist related. 10 days go by and she goes back to pick up the receiver (11/20/2011). She picks it up and was told the parts were not there. I gave them a call and asked when the parts where coming in and they could not find my order and told me to call back tomorrow. I called back and they said they had no order under the names I gave them. I finally go the order and they told me 2-3 days and I asked what the order was and they had it incorrect. He had told me my mother had it wrong but they got 2 of 3 items correct and she had come in with the list of items i needed. We argued about the situation and he finally realized that he was running a business and customers came first. He changed my order and I am here now 12/26/11 still waiting on these parts. I call back and they act as if I'm pestering them. I am extremely upset because my business is not appreciated and I will not return back to this store not EVEN TO BUY A DROP OF LUBRICANT because they will probably make me wait for that as well. I do not recommend this store to anyone simply because they are rude, inconsiderate, unorganized, terrible customer service, and try to blame customers for their mistakes. Please do not go Irvington Arms in Fremont. Save yourself the time and pay a couple extra bucks to drive to the nearest gun shop.

Irvington Arms is the closest gun shop to both my work and home, so it is very sad that they are such a bad establishment.
The store is pitifully small, disorganized, and dirty. The staff is generally unfriendly. Also, I get a really weird vibe from the staff. However, because they are close and convenient, I gave them a chance anyway. It didn't work out so well.
I wanted sling hardware attached to two Ruger 10/22's. It is a simple task I could do myself, but I wanted a professional job done.
The shop told me they could do the work while I wait, so I came one down. When I got there they said I would have to leave the stocks, I could pick them up later that day. Well when I called back that day they said I would have to wait until the next day, and to call back in the morning. When I called the next day they acted like I was pestering them by calling again. But they had told me to call back when I did, and after all, this was originally supposed to have been done while I waited. Finally later on the second day they said the work was done and I could pick up the stocks.
Unfortunately, the result was extremely amateur. The stock was splintered where the holes were drilled for the hardware, and one hole was drilled extremely off center. The worst part is that the guy who did it thought it was fine and kind of treated me like a jerk for even pointing out the errors about the workmanship. I wasn't rude about it. Mistakes happen. I can handle "Hey we made a mistake, we will fix it." But that was not their attitude.
I won't be back. I’m going to have to fix the mistakes myself. In retrospect I should have listened to my friends who say they never go there anymore.
