The Link Hotel on Sunrise

More of a motel, versus a hotel - I had no issues at The Link Hotel on Sunrise during a recent stay. In my old hometown for a birthday party, I was seeking value and convenience versus luxury. I found The Link online through an online booking service.

Daisy was my desk clerk upon check-in. Friendly and polite, the check in process took several minutes as many "disclaimers" were read to me. For instance, credit card holds and a mandatory room deposit for damages. My guess is they get a lot of complaints from guests with low credit limits and credit card holds for the room deposit. I didn't have a problem with this.

Room was clean and well kept. Recently renovated, mine had both a refrigerator and microwave oven, along with wood floors. Two queen size beds - both were comfortable, although I only used one. Sparse bathroom supplies such as soap and shampoo. There was a sign advising guests to call the front desk if they ran short or forgot something. My room had an outside door facing the parking lot.

The Link Hotel is convenient not only to Fort Lauderdale Beach, but the Galleria Mall, George English Park, Holiday Park, War Memorial Auditorium, and Bonnet House Museum and Gardens. Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport is about 5 miles away. Plenty of parking and a free continental breakfast is served.

I debated leaving 3 stars versus 4 - based on what I read in some other reviews - but opted to leave the 4 stars as my review is based on an individual experience. An individual experience unique to me. As mentioned earlier, I booked through an online service and was looking for value and convenience - not luxury. I knew about the pits and cherries before booking.

I would book again at The Link Hotel on Sunrise in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
