ImmunizationsImmunizations @ BVMA and Ohio ImpactSIIS BVMA participates in "Ohio ImpactSIIS." This means that when you have an immunization administered at our office, we record it in your electronic medical record, and the immunization data electronically transfers to the Ohio ImpactSIIS system. The ImpactSIIS records can then be access by authorized users to obtain accurate information about your immunization history. Below is the information provided by the state regarding this system; including your ability to opt-out of participation.
FibromyalgiaRheumatologists concern themselves with the diagnosis and treatment of disorders involving joints, bones and other connective tissues. This encompasses a broad range of diseases including arthritis, osteoporosis, gout, lupus, back pain, tendonitis and fibromyalgia. At BVMA, our rheumatologists are skilled at comprehensive diagnostic/therapeutic evaluation and treatment for adults with acute and chronic rheumatic diseases. The doctors provide diagnostic EMGs and bone densitometry (DEXA) at our facility.
RheumatologyMichael W. Lindamood, M.D., M.P.H. began practicing Rheumatology at Blanchard Valley Medical Associates in July of 1976 after earning a Bachelor of Science Degree from Mount Union College and a Doctor of Medicine Degree from The Ohio State University. He also completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus and a fellowship in Rheumatology at the University of Colorado in Denver. Dr. Lindamood is board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology, and also returned to school to earn his Master of Public Health Degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Pediatric CareMichael L. Cairns, M.D. earned his Bachelor's of Arts in Psychology and Zoology at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He continued his education at Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio, graduating Valedictorian of his class. After receiving his Doctorate of Medicine, Dr. Cairns completed an internship in Pediatrics and a residency in Dermatology at Wright State University College of Medicine. Dr. Cairns is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology, and is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Dermatology, and the Society of Pediatric Dermatology. He began his practice at the Arnett Clinic in Lafayette, Indiana where he practiced for six years before beginning his practice at BVMA in June of 2005.
Primary CareInternal Medicine Internal medicine is a non-surgical medical specialty concerned with diseases of the internal organs in adults. At BVMA, our internists provide comprehensive primary care to individuals aged 12 and older. They also provide consultations for difficult diagnostic problems. Our internists are skilled in disease prevention and in managing complex disorders of the body. They typically act as personal physicians and develop long-term relationships with their patients.
Smoking CessationFindlay in 2002. Before joining the BVMA team, Belinda worked as a social worker for Children’s Services in Hancock and Shelby counties. She began at Blanchard Valley Medical Associates in November 2002 working under the supervision of Dr. Rick Watson, providing care to Pulmonary Disease patients. Belinda offers a great service to our patients through her specialization in smoking cessation counseling. Another accomplishment of Belinda’s is the completion of her Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies in 2008 from the
Family PracticeShanna Price, CNP graduated froom Madonna University in Livonia, MI with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She continued her education at Otterbein University in Westerville, OH where she earned her Master of Science of Nursing in the Family Nurse Practitioner Program. Shanna holds her National Certification through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Prior to coming to BVMA, she worked as a Nurse Practitioner at a Family Practice Office in Marion, OH. Shanna works in collaboration with Dr. Leroy Schroeder and specializes in Endocrinology. Shanna's special area of interest is diabetes.
Emergency CareGraduated from Wright State University in March of 2010 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Biology. She continued her education at Kettering College in Kettering, Ohio where she earned a Master of Science Degree in Physician Assistant Studies. Since graduation she has worked in the Emergency Department at St Rita's Medical Center as well as Blanchard Valley Hospital. Abigail began her practice at BVMA in May 2014. Working in collaboration with our Internal Medicine physicians, she provides primary and preventative care to patients 12 years and older. Bruce A. Bouts, R.Ph., M.D., F.A.C.P.
Nuclear MedicineFindlay, earning his Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Medicine Technology in 1998 and his Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant Studies in 2002. After receiving his certification as a physician assistant, Mike worked with the physicians at Ohio Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeons, Inc. in
Lung CancerPulmonary Medicine is the specialty that is concerned with disorders of the lungs and other components of the respiratory system. At BVMA, our pulmonologist provides comprehensive care, diagnosis and treatment to patients with diseases such as asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, lung cancer, pneumonia and tuberculosis. Pulmonologists also perform specialized procedures to obtain samples of the lining of the chest wall, the lung wall; or of the lung itself. Pulmonary function testing, pulse oximetry and chest x-rays can all be done at our facility. BVMA is also proud to offer smoking cessation counseling as part of our pulmonary medicine program.
Internal MedicineJerome F. Beekman, M.D., F.A.C.C. received his Bachelor's of Science and Master's Degrees from The Ohio State University in Chemical Engineering. After earning his Doctorate of Medicine Degree from OSU, Dr. Beekman completed a residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Cardiology at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. In addition to being board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease, Dr. Beekman is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiologists. Dr. Beekman has practiced Cardiology at Blanchard Valley Medical Associates since July of 1979.
GastroenterologyRobert L. Heacock, M.D. earned his Bachelor of Science Degree and his Doctor of Medicine Degree from The Ohio State University. Dr. Heacock completed an internship in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Gastroenterology at
GynecologyGraduated from University at Buffalo in Buffalo, New York with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biomedical Science. She continued her education at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio where she earned a Master of Science Degree in Physician Assistant Studies. Jessica completed numerous clinical rotations throughout her training including internal medicine, psychiatry, orthopedic surgery, dermatology and OB-GYN. She joined the BVMA Internal Medicine team in August of 2013.
DermatologyDermatology is a branch of medicine involving the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the skin, hair and nails. It is a complicated and dynamic field of medicine with rapidly changing and expanding treatment options for multiple conditions. Dermatologists treat skin diseases such as inflammations, infections, burns, tumors, acne and some allergies. BVMA is dedicated to delivering the highest quality in dermatologic care. We offer general dermatology, dermatologic surgery and ultraviolet light therapy in a friendly and caring environment.
UlcerGastroenterology is the medical specialty concerned with disorders and conditions of the digestive system. This system includes the esophagus, stomach, small and large intestines (colon), pancreas and liver. At BVMA, our gastroenterologists provide a full range of diagnostic, consultative and procedural services for patients with gastrointestinal disease. These diseases include colorectal cancer (screening and prevention), gastroesophageal reflux (GERD), peptic ulcer disease, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, diarrhea/constipation and hepatitis. They provide a number of procedures such as colonoscopies, endoscopies and liver biopsies in association with the Findlay Surgery Center and Blanchard Valley Hospital.
EndocrinologyEndocrinology is the study of glands and other structures that secrete hormones. At BVMA, our endocrinologist offers specialized diagnosis, treatment and consultative services for patients with hormonal, metabolic and nutritional disorders. These diseases include diabetes, thyroid, pituitary and adrenal disorders, obesity, endocrine tumors and cancers, and growth hormone deficiency. Laboratory testing and thyroid scanning are done at our facility.
ThyroidLeroy L. Schroeder, M.D. has practiced Internal Medicine and Endocrinology at Blanchard Valley Medical Associates since July of 1976. He earned his Bachelor's of Science Degree in Biology and his Doctor of Medicine Degree from The Ohio State University. Dr. Schroeder completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, and a fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at The Ohio State University Medical School. Dr. Schroeder wa board certified in Internal Medicine in 1974 and in Endocrinology and Metabolism in 1977. His special interests are in diabetes mellitus, pituitary disease, and thyroid disease.
PsychiatryMandy Williams, PA-C joined Blanchard Valley Medical Associates in October of 2010 as a full-time Internal Medicine Physician Assistant. Mandy graduated from Marshall University in May of 2004 with a Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training and Adult Fitness. Mandy then went on to continue her education at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio, obtaining her Master of Science Degree in Physician Assistant Studies. As part of her extensive clinical training Mandy worked as a Physician Assistant in a variety of settings, including internal medicine, psychiatry, cardiothoracic surgery, orthopedic surgery, OB-GYN, and pediatrics. Before joining BVMA, Mandy gained valuable experience during her two years of employment as a Physician Assistant in the Emergency Department at Blanchard Valley Hospital. Mandy's areas of special interest include promoting wellness, athletic training, and adult fitness.
