Weight ManagementHyperthyroidism refers to any condition in which the body has too much thyroid hormone. Symptoms may include weight loss, nervousness, irritability, increased perspiration, a racing heart, hand tremors, anxiety, difficulty sleeping, increased bowel movements, fine brittle hair, and muscular weakness. In Graves' disease, a bulging of one or both eyes may occur.

Children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years who come in for well-child check-ups get a free book to take home. Our doctors are paired up with the organization, Reach Out and Read, to encourage families to read.
Primary CarePatients are seen by appointment only and referral from their primary care physician or other consultant. Please bring or ask your healthcare provider to send your records or X-rays to our office. Our staff will be happy to help you in obtaining any of these. You also will be asked to complete a medical history and registration form. Please bring your insurance information, and plan to arrive about 30 minutes early for your initial office visit.
Family PracticeDr. Frank Arnold is board certified and focuses on all aspects of family medicine with particular emphasis on preventive care. Dr. Arnold received his undergraduate degree from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1977 and his medical degree from Autonomous University of Guadalajara in 1981. He completed an internship at Northwest Hospital in Chicago in 1983 and his residency at Resurrection Hospital Family Practice, also in Chicago, in 1987. In 2005, he received postgraduate training at the University of New Mexico. Dr. Arnold is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and focuses on all aspects of family medicine with particular emphasis on preventative care.

ColonoscopyDr. James Boyd attended the Medical College of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and completed a general surgery residency at Exempla St. Joseph Hospital in Denver. He performs the full scope of general surgery with a particular interest in the treatment of liver masses, lung tumors, artery and vein disease, and endovenous laser treatment of varicose veins. He also performs bronchoscopy, upper endoscopy, and colonoscopy. He is board certified in general surgery.
NeurologyDr. Michelle Raphael received her medical degree at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences – College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her neurology residency in Dayton, Ohio at Ohio University, Grandview Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Raphael joined San Juan Health Partners Neurosciences in 2012
EndoscopyDr. Damon Kalcich attended medical school at Midwestern University, Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Phoenix. After completing medical school, Dr. Kalcich did his general surgery residency at Michigan State University, Detroit Medical Center. His areas of medical interest include trauma, minimally invasive surgery, endoscopy, and colorectal care. He is board eligible in general surgery.

UrologyDr. Spendlove received his undergraduate degree in microbiology from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. He attended medical school at Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. Dr. Spendlove did his residency in urology at the University of Colorado Denver, where he received extensive training in laparoscopic and robotic surgery. He provides a full range of urology services including men’s health, urologic cancer management, and treatment of male and female incontinence.
General SurgeryDr. Melania Yeats attended the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, and completed a general surgery residency at the University of Nebraska in Omaha. She has a special interest in treating diseases of the breast, and enjoys working with women with both surgical and medical conditions of the breast. Dr. Yeats is board certified in general surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Sports MedicineAccursio has worked at San Juan Regional Medical Center since 2006, most recently at San Juan Regional Heart Center since 2009. He holds a Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing as a Certified Emergency Nurse and is listed on the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Paramedic. Accursio is particularly interested in orthopedic and sports medicine and enjoys working with children.

Mental HealthDr. Eric Stoltzfus received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry at New Mexico State University and earned his medical degree at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. He interned at the Wyoming Family Practice Center in Casper, Wyoming, and completed his general psychiatry residency at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio. Dr. Stoltzfus returned to New Mexico for a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center. For several years, he worked for Northern Navajo Medical Center as a psychiatrist, consult liaison, and director of mental health services before joining San Juan Health Partners Behavioral Health.
PsychiatryDr. Ariadna Sadziene-Bessinger attended Vilnius University Medical College. She interned at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and completed her residency Program at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Western Psychiatry Institute and Clinics; and a fellowship at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Western Psychiatry Institute and Clinics.
Behavioral HealthJanet Thelen, CNP Ms. Thelen received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida in 1994. She also attended New Mexico State University in Las Cruces for her nurse practitioner licensure. Ms. Thelen has worked at San Juan Regional Medical Center since 2002 with the inpatient behavioral health department.
