I moved out and checked out, a year later they sent me a bill of $1,799 because I moved out even though I had permission from the apt manager to leave. They reported me to a debt collector and now my credit score is all messed up. I just got an attorney and we are preparing to take the case to the court as I type this. My properties were stolen from that apt because the front door was broken and not secured. they never fixed it. Myself and other tenants' cars tires were slashed outside the car parking lot and we couldn't find who did it. their apts are not secured and they have horrible relationship with the tenants. stay away from them as much as you can. there are better apts you can find in north fargo. Hope this help someone to avoid the mess I've been through.

I had mixed emotions about renting from BMI when I read some of the reviews but I'm glad I had already signed my lease because I would have missed out on a townhome I absolutely love! They must have new management because all the things written about before my time have not happened to me and all the people there are super helpful, even when they answer the phone they are nice!! I hope to stay here for many years to come. If you are considering renting from BMI I say go for it!

Overall

I lived in an apartment that was purchased by BMI two months before the end of my lease. I just moved out yesterday July 31st. The month before moving, the apartment was shown 3 times. No notice was given. One time I was in the shower with no towel and obviously no clothes. I had to ask for a towel because the leading lady wanted to talk. she stood outside my bathroom door with a young women there to see my apartment. It was very uncomfortable and very unprofessional.

For my check-out, I was told I would see Julie at noon. She then told me it would be 12:30. No biggie. 3:00 rolls around and I still haven't gotten a hold of her nor heard from her. Except for a text response stating 'soon'. So I was left to sit in a completely empty apartment for 3 hours. Julie and her associate finally arrive. Her associate is wearing what appears to be pajamas and before even saying a word to me start going off about black people. 'Clack people make the worst tenants. ' if I didn't have to rent to foreigners I never would. They destroy everything'. If it weren't for the fact that these ladies have my deposit money in their control, I would've back handed the two. It was so extremely insulting and disgusting. The associate ended up sitting on the floor of my empty living room and took her time doing paper work. I still can't believe that happened. I'll keep you posted if I get my deposit back.

BMI in Fargo ND is a terrible company to rent from. Not only would the apartment manager fail to submit work orders when requested, once submitted, there was no notice given as to when the maintenance staff would arrive. They are also supportive of abuse against women. I was attacked in my apartment with my three children sleeping upstairs one night, ran outside to get the attacker out of my home and away from my kids, locked myself in my van, and as the attacker was trying to break my window to get in I called 911. BMI utilized this as a reason to issue me a non-renewal of lease due to "multiple police calls" of which there was only one - the one from the night I was being attacked and my innocent children slept upstairs. Upon discovering my non-renewal status, and the subsequent reason, I attempted repeatedly to speak with the supervisor (Josh) to explain my scenario to avoid being removed from the "home" in the middle of winter. To make a long story short, he NEVER contacted me back and my children were forced from the home they'd just grown accustomed as well as the school they'd just grown accustomed because I called the police when I was being attacked.

BMI apartments are MOLD PITS. ...

BMI apartments are MOLD PITS. Do not rent from these criminals. Don't let the lower rent and the low deposit fool you. Its only a matter of time before this company is sued!

Probably won't rend here again.

Lets go through the pro's first:

The building is quiet and well maintained. The old cleaning guy is always being a busy bee, running around doing what he does best-cleaning and mowing the lawn.

Within the past year they have redone the parking lots which is nice. Rent, honestly, isn't too bad for what you get and the apartments are spacious (in my building anyway).

Everything you need is within walking distance.

Cons:

There is only one laundry room and it is on the garden level-which would be okay with me if I was on the garden level rather than the third floor.

The building is well maintained but isn't very attractive-its just old I guess.

The majority of the people who live here are elderly and go to bed at like 7PM-no joke. So we have to really quiet if we don't want the cops called on us.

Our oven stopped working 3 months after we moved in and it took them almost 10 months to replace it.

The lock to the front door had always been really loose-it could be unlocked if you giggled the door knob enough-so, we asked our landlord to look at and she stuck her key in it and twisted a bunch of times now we can't eve get our key into the lock-when we leave we haven't been able to lock our front door. It's been like this for almost 5 months now. We have called her and told her 5 times now and each time she promises "this week."

About a month ago we called her boss because she hadn't replaced our oven in 9 months and our lock had been broken for 4 months-she obviously wasn't doing anything about it. He called us back and said that he had talked to her-everything should be fixed next week. Nope, took another month for the oven and we have yet to get a new lock.

I am moving out at the end of this month and from what I have heard, she doesn't give notice to tenants when she is going to show the apartment-she just walks right in. I REALLY hope she doesn't do this to me-I'll be PO'ed.

And I would think we should get our deposit back from not having an oven for 10 months or a lock on our front door for 5. I mean, we did pay to have those things didn't we?

Worst Company ever

Builders Management has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. And I work in call centers! The apartment managers are liars and cheats, the people above them are incompetent and out for revenge. This company offers no amenities in their apartments, lies on move-out / check out conditions, and refuses to return security deposits. I would NOT recommend BMI and would rather recommend the YWCA shelter.
