Eli Peer Oriental Rugs

My mother, 85, is quite deaf, has dementia and is easily confused. She made a date with Eli Peer to pick up and clean 2 rugs from her retirement home apmt. His price was double other quotes we obtained from reputable dealers. At her request, I phoned him and told him she was not feeling well and we were canceling the scheduled pick up for 4pm that day. His response was to call her and go to her apartment 4 hours early. He confused her and used scare tactics - telling her other places would not hand wash, etc. and convinced her to give him 4 carpets instead of 2. When I called him demanding that he return the rugs not only did he scream at me, but told me he didn't know who I was, did not care that I have power of attorney for her and that he would only speak to her - and hung up on me.He finally held the rugs hostage, requiring me to pick them up and demanding $50.00 cash. It was surreal. Do not do business with this man...he must be desperate.
