Parasites Treatment and ControlIt is important that we make sure that your pet is on proper medications, like heartworm preventive. Your pet needs to be tested once a year for heartworm disease. Heartworm disease is so prevalent in this area and infection needs to be caught early. Your pet needs to be checked annually for parasites that live in the intestinal tract. These parasites can be infective to you, your children, and other pets.
Pain ManagementThe issue of pain management is of great concern to both pet owners and veterinarians today. As in human medicine, the knowledge of mechanisms and consequences of pain has been elevated to their proper level of importance.
Veterinary SurgeryFirst, on behalf of our hospital staff, we want to thank you for entrusting the health of your pet with us. The entire staff places high value on quality care and pledges to care for your pet as we would our own. It is our belief that your pet should receive the best medical and surgical care that we as veterinarians have the knowledge and expertise to perform.
Nutritional CounselingSome pets require special food, and all pets benefit from a balanced diet. At DCHA we carry Hill’s Science Diet and Prescription Diets for all of your pet’s nutritional needs. With new research showing diet can control or slow progression of many disease processes, optimal nutrition is important in every pet’s nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.
VaccinationWhy should you and your pet come in to have an exam once a year, even if your pet seems healthy and is current on vaccinations? Good question and we have the answer!
Lab and X-Rays
Laboratory ServicesOur extensive laboratory provides fast and accurate information that is critical to a sick or injured pet. With our modern, in-house laboratory diagnostic equipment, animals receive appropriate treatment immediately after arriving at the hospital.
MicrochippingDCAH advocates microchip identification as means of permanent identifications for your pet. Our hospital uses the AVID Friendchip. Microchipping can be done on an outpatient basis and many clients elect to microchip when their animal is spayed or neutered. A tiny microchip, the size of a grain of rice, is implanted using a syringe between the animal’s shoulder blades. This procedure takes just seconds and is virtually painless. Individual numbers are registered in the national database managed by the AVID Friendchip Microchipping services.
Chronic Condition Treatment
Periodontal Disease TreatmentDental disease is found frequently and can easily be managed if found early. Found later, advanced periodontal disease is severely painful and treatment can be expensive.
