Soft Tissue Therapies: Rarely is a musculoskeletal pain just a joint or just a muscle issue. It is usually a combination of both and because of this the chiropractors at Duluth Chiropractic Clinic will always address both issues. We utilize numerous muscle techniques for overactive or hypertonic muscles including: deep tissue massage, cross-frictional massage, myofascial release, Graston Technique, post-isometric relaxation, neuromuscular re-education and kinesiotaping.
Full Body Massage
We have two massage therapists who are trained in many different modalities to treat difficult conditions such as back, neck, shoulder or hip related pain. The massage therapists can work on specific areas, full body or relaxation massage. No referral for massage is needed to set up an appointment with any of our therapists. You and the therapist will discuss the desired outcome of your session. This will determine which parts of your body will benefit from massage. A typical full body massage includes attention to your head, shoulders, arms, hands, abdominals, legs, feet, and back.

Chiropractic Adjustments: Often referred to as spinal joint manipulations, this manual technique restores movement to joints that are restricted in various ranges of motion. If a joint is restricted in movement, pain and dysfunction result. Our doctors carefully assess and identify abnormal movement patterns and attempt to restore normal motion. This usually results in immediate pain relief and allows the body to heal the injured area properly.
Manipulation Therapy
As with any medical procedures there is risk. Spinal manipulation to the cervical spine is a topic of concern for some individuals and medical providers. The current research shows that injury to the vertebral/basilar arteries is not increased when patients receive cervical manipulations for neck pain versus seeking care from their primary medical provider. Myofascial Therapy
Disc Herniation Treatment
If you choose to contact our office in regards to the treatment of a disc herniation, we require you to either fax a written copy of your MRI report to our office or bring in a copy of your MRI. After reviewal of the MRI our doctors perform neurological tests: reflexes/muscle-strength/sensation-sensory nerves with other orthopedic tests to determine if your condition is one that may respond to conservative spinal manipulations. If we determine your condition requires more extensive medical care (meds/injections/PT/surgery) we will refer you to the appropriate providers.
