Delicious food, excellent mix drinks. 100% satisfaction.

Hands down the most authentic Mexican food in the Des Moines metro. It's across from Wal Mart on SE 14th St. A server told me almost all of the decor has been brought from Mexico. It's got rustic brick archways, terra cotta roof tiles, painted murals of Mexico, and a unique hacienda-style wooden entrance door. The menu offers everything from Mexican seafood dishes to meat, rice, and bean dishes, to tamales. Locally-owned and managed, it's reasonably-priced with friendly servers. I live about 20 miles away, but now that I've found it, the drive is worth it. Will be taking my kids from out-of-town there over Christmas break.

The carnitas from this place are very good, this is a great place to go to when looking for authentic mexican food! The service and efficiency is a plus!

I am a regular customer at 5 de Mayo and have NEVER been disappointed with the flavor, the service, or the place overall. I really enjoy going there and having a Steak Texano or trying from the many especials they offer. I recoomend this restaurant. Give it a try and enjoy their delicious food and friendly service. Highly recommend it.

I would recommend the new Hawaiian Fajitas! they are soo yommy! and can easily feed 2, because this plate is seriously big, plus they have the best chips and salsa, is my favorite Mexican Restaurant on the South Side of Des moines, plus they always have good deals at the bar... Love it!

The fiesta Cancun special is absolutly yummy!!!
