Charges were dropped in December in connection with an Aug. 28 knife fight at Emeritus at Vickery Towers, a senior citizens complex in the Lower Greenville area. One man in his 70s suffered a severed thumb and other injuries and another in his 60s was stabbed in his chest. Both were initially charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. An elevator and a hallway were stained red after the bloody attack. Both were released from the Lew Sterrett Criminal Justice Center. The younger of the two men was on parole due a 20-plus-year sentence for shooting a police officer.

My grandparents moved to Vickery Towers two months ago - a big switch from living independently. The wonderful staff has made the transition for them go smoothly. The apartments are nice and bright and the dining hall is lovely, and I've heard the food is good. I would live there!

I moved my mother into Vickery Towers in February 2006 and she loved living there. Unfortunately she fell and broke her hip and she is one of those statistics that will not recover totally. So I am now looking for a nursing home for her. My mother would tell you that the food was horrible, but I would eat there and the food was very good. The staff was also very good to her, so our overall satisfaction rate is high. However, we did run into several snafus getting stuff repaired, but you run into that everywhere. With the recent remodel of the Independent Living dinning room, the main reception area and the courtyard out front, the place is wonderful. The remodel of the Assisted Living side is OK, the paint color is horrible and the choice of furniture is not nearly as nice as what's on the Independent Living side. A new manager or rather interim manager came in and fired the "decorator" that had been originally hired when they started the major remodel of the building and hired some real Interior Designers. She does miss living there a lot and I would be more than happy to move her back there if she ever regains her mobility.

I worked there as a receptionist so I saw all that went on! The staff is very friendly!!!! The residents are a delight to see everday! Place is very clean, residents can be independent if they would like! Food is Great!! Location, maybe not so great (clubs very close).... but it is gated with a security code. Also has a pool!! nice nice nice!
