Teeth Cleaning
This makes regular dental cleaning a critical aspect of your oral care routine. Professional dental cleaning sessions with your oral hygienist are recommended every six months to help you prevent teeth and gum problems and avoid costly dental procedures.
Fluoride Treatment
Topical fluoride treatments help keep your childâ€™s teeth cavity-free between visits by strengthening the enamel. Depending on your childâ€™s age, the fluoride may be brushed onto your childâ€™s teeth or put into a foam tray and allowed to sit on their teeth. For younger children, a fluoride varnish is brushed onto the teeth. Fluoride varnish hardens when it comes in contact with saliva, forming a hard film that is brushed off later that evening.
Dental Sealants
Sealants can dramatically reduce the number of cavities a child might develop throughout their childhood. On the chewing surface of molars, deep grooves run into the center of the teeth. Under a microscope, these crevices might look like a deep canyon. In reality, most of them are narrower than a single toothbrush bristle but that is still wide enough for bacteria to hide. It’s easy to see how cavities can form in such a perfect hideout.

Fillings
Cavities and small fractures can cause much larger issues if left untreated. In the past, metal restorations called amalgam fillings (or silver fillings) served a need but left many teeth discolored and strained from the wedging effect of the metal. Today, tooth-colored composite resins blend into the tooth structure and are chemically bonded to the tooth providing a strong, permanent restoration.
Resin Composite
Fillings are placed in the tooth following decay removal to preserve natural tooth structure. Nowadays most fillings are made of a composite resin that is matched to your childâ€™s natural tooth color. In some rare instances amalgam (silver) fillings may be used.

Veneers are the ultimate combination of dental art and science, handcrafted and customized to fit your smile. These paper-thin pieces of porcelain bond to the outside of your natural teeth. But just because theyâ€™re thin, don’t be fooled. Veneers are highly versatile and can replicate all the complex nuances of a natural tooth.

Root Canal Treatment
If a baby tooth has decay that has entered the nerve, or pulp, of the tooth, or if the tooth has suffered trauma, it may cause hot and cold sensitivity or constant pain. A root canal might be recommended to preserve the tooth until it is ready to come out on its own and be replaced by its permanent counterpart.

Dentures
Periodontal disease, commonly known as gum disease, affects about 30% of the adult population and is the number one cause of tooth loss in adults. Many denture cases begin because of this chronic condition. While not curable, with regular professional hygiene appointments and consistent home care, it is controllable.

Dental Implants
If bone shrinks away from your teeth, it never grows back. In some cases, bone can be encouraged to fill in with grafting materials placed by our doctors. Every situation presents a different scenario, but more options than ever exist to promote bone repair in the jaw. For example, when a tooth needs removal, a large hole then exists in the bone. While it will eventually fill in, the site tends to shrink, drawing bone away from the area jeopardizing surrounding teeth. Grafting materials can be placed at the time of tooth removal to help preserve the existing bone level. Bone grafts are especially beneficial if you are considering an implant-supported restoration in the future.

Tooth Extractions
DO NOT allow your child to drink from a straw, rinse their mouths out, spit, or brush that area for at least 24 hours after tooth extraction. This could dislodge the blood clot and cause a very painful issue called dry socket.

Orthodontics
A variety of tooth and jaw issues can be resolved through orthodontics. Our doctors may point out that your child’s baby teeth appear crowded or the relationship between the upper and lower teeth isnâ€™t ideal. While treatment doesnâ€™t usually start this young, it may help you prepare for the possibility of future corrective care. As permanent teeth start to appear, usually around age 6, our doctors will monitor the situation and help you decide if early orthodontic treatment is right for your child.

Braces
