Texas Gun Shop always seems to have what I'm looking for. I bought a Les Bear Custom 1911 they had in stock. The staff took the time to break down the pistol and show me how much attention to detail goes into making a Baer. They explained the differences between a custom built pistol and a production pistol. Great service and extremely knowledgeable staff. They keep the good stuff in the back of the store.

First, I hesitated to shop at the Texas Gun Shop because of the two negative reviews I had read, and thought, "Ok, I don't need any of that." But my husband insisted that we go look around because he really wanted a particular gun that he could not find anywhere else. He had a good experience that day, so I went back with him twice more, before I ended up buying two Sigs (one for him and one for my daughter, plus an extended magazine for her and some hollow points). Each time I've been in there, I have not experienced any rudeness or impatience from any of the employees, plus they were very informative when I had questions. Even when the store became crowded with new customers (lunch crowd), no one lost any patience. Yes, they are a little more expensive than Academy, but there are more crowds at Academy, and sometimes the choice of guns is limited. Plus, you can only buy one gun per week, and good luck getting ammo there if you didn't line up outside the store before they opened. Sometimes it's worth paying a little more to avoid a massive hassle, and Texas Gun Shop is just a good place to shop for guns, ammo, and lots of other things. My advice, if you're looking: call them, go by, give them a shot (no pun intended).

My personal experience with Texas Gun Shop I found it nowhere close to the previous reviews. When I called, I asked for a specific gun--a Glock G23--and they had it. I immediately went there, and got a chance to meet Blaze. I found him to be exceptionally informative and I found the other employees very personal and nice, as well. Two or three weeks later, I called and asked if they had any Sig P238's, and I was told that the following week on Wednesday, they'd be getting three of them. A few days after that Wednesday, I called, and asked again if they had these guns, and I was told yes. I asked if they could please hold them for me for about an hour, while I spoke to my wife. The young fellow I talked to, did just that, for me. As anyone who reads this review well knows, these weapons don't last long on the shelf, and most other places would not have held them for me. Plus, there is a strict limit at some places as to how many guns you can buy at a time, per week. So we went there and they had them for me. The service that was rendered to me was such caliber, that I bought both P238's they had. If anyone asks me would I buy there again, I would unequivocally state a resounding YES!

Worst Business in Corpus Chris...

Worst Business in Corpus Christi. 2 Months & Nothing Done. I brought in a 1927 Colt Police Positive to get a new screw for the grips & to have the gun re-nickled. They said no problem and it would be done in 2 to 3 weeks. I then had to call each week for 8 weeks, they never followed up & said they didn't have a gunsmith or that I wasn't talking to the right guy who originally took the gun. After 2 months I was shocked by their incompetence & went to pick up the gun. While there I tried to explain what happened to 'Nathan' who was working that day. He said 'He didn't care, and it wasn't his problem". After I said I would leave this bad review he said 'Good, you can add it to all the other bad reviews' and then told me to 'Get out of the store, now!" I have lived in Corpus Christi for 30 years. I can say without reservation, this is the Worst Business in Corpus Christi. Zero Service, Zero Skills. Don't do business here, they should be shut down.

TYPICAL CORPUS ATTITUDE. YOU WILL BUY HERE AND WHAT WE HAVE IS WHAT YOU WANT. TOUR TOO STUPID TO TRAVEL ANYWHERE ELSE TO BUY WHAT YOU WANT. WELL SORRY TEXAS GUN. NOT FROM HERE. WILL TRAVEL TO GET WHAT I WANT. THE WORLD DOES NOT FALL OFF AT THE EDGE OF TOWN. I HAVE GONE TO THIS PLACE 3 TIMES LOOKING FOR SOMETHING, HOPING TO FIND SOMEONE THAT WAS WILLING TO HELP, INSTEAD FOUND SOMEONE WITHOUT A CLUE AND TOLD ME "NO WHAT YOU WANT IS THIS" AND IT IS WHAT HAPPENS TO BE WHAT IS IN STOCK. IF YOUR SPENDING ALOT OF MONEY GREATER THAN A GRAND ON ANYTHING LOOK TOWARDS S.A. IT IS WELL WORTH THE TRIP.
