Parvovirus Infection TreatmentHighly infectious and dangerous; similar to the parvovirus in dogs. All cats should be vaccinated. (After the 1st year annual booster, we give a 3 year vaccine.)
Ear Infection Treatment
Comprehensive ExaminationAggressive or uncooperative pets may need to be sedated before grooming. We will contact you for consent before administering sedation. Sedation requires a physical exam by the veterinarian; the fee for exam and sedation is $56.00.
Dental CareWhether it’s a spay, neuter, dental cleaning, mass removal or some other procedure, a general anesthetic surgery always carries a small element of risk.
VaccinationWe believe that vaccinations are a safe medical procedure that protects our pets from potentially life threatening diseases. Just as in human medicine, adverse events occasionally occur. Common reactions include local swelling, lethargy and fever. Rarely, an allergic reaction occurs. Before you decide to change your pet’s vaccine schedule, please discuss your concerns with a veterinarian.
Lab and X-Rays
Laboratory ServicesA chemistry profile and CBC helps us to be sure that kidneys, liver and other internal organs are functioning properly to metabolize the anesthesia. Blood tests may also help us to detect underlying medical conditions that could impact the surgical procedure
X-RayRadiology: Our facilities allow you to have results while you wait. We are pleased to offer our clients the sharp, clear images of digital radiography. Digital imaging enables us to process x-rays quickly and, if necessary, e-mail them to specialists at other hospitals.
Chronic Condition Treatment
Heart Disease TreatmentOur state-of-the-art equipment monitors respiration, blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen levels, temperature and EKG. An experienced technician monitors the parameters and adjusts the anesthesia as needed
Wound and Fracture CareCommonly known as feline AIDS, FIV is spread primarily through bite wounds. There is no cure for FIV. Strongly recommended for outdoor cats.
Parasites Treatment and ControlMedications, Pet Food & Pet Supplies: We maintain an in-house pharmacy, which allows us to fill prescriptions for your pet quickly and conveniently. We also offer prescription diets from Hills, Purina, IVD, and Iams, and selection of nutritional supplements, flea & tick products, grooming aids, odor/stain removers, and collars and leashes. Ask us about home delivery.
Pain ManagementIn addition to sending pain medications home with the patient, we treat all patients post-surgically with our therapy laser, in order to reduce inflammation and speed healing
Skin Condition and Allergy TreatmentLaser therapy is used to treat a wide range of conditions that involve pain and inflammation. Typical cases include arthritis, back injuries, sprains, muscle spasms, nerve injuries, wounds, “hot spots,” ear infections, cystitis, gingivitis, post-operative recuperation and skin conditions of all kinds.
Dental SurgeryDentistry: We use an ultrasonic scaler and polisher for quick and efficient dental cleanings, as well as a dental x-ray machine. We also perform tooth extractions and other minor oral surgeries.
Veterinary SurgeryJosh is also a veterinarian that will be here often. He has a special interest in orthopedic surgery as well as complex soft tissue surgery and ultrasound. They love to work together and want to achieve the highest level of patient care possible.
DeclawingWhile cat neuters, dental cleanings and mass removals typically go home the same day, all other surgical patients (i.e. spays and dog neuters) spend one night in the hospital so that we can monitor for pain and bleeding and ensure that the patient is fully recovered before release (declaws spend two nights in the hospital)
General Pet Care
BoardingThe Northarlington Animal is pleased to offer boarding for our veterinary patients only. In addition to cats and dogs (under 40 pounds), we are happy to offer boarding services for hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, rats, mice and gerbils.
