Rude Employees and Owners

The owners are very rude and talk down to customers. They do not seem to be very knowledgeable in their dealings with birds. Handfed babies are skiddish and bite HARD. They lie to customers about the quality of the birds. They breed their own birds and sell them for outrageous prices when they get the babies for free. Yes there is time in handfeeding what little they do but still they should lower prices. They do not socialize their babies anymore. They have raised their prices to unaffordable prices. They sell below quality toys that looks like they were made by a 2 year old. Mother and Daughter are both horrible to deal with and refuse to sell to people they "dont like" They are not interested in quality of life of their animals. I purchased an amazon from them a while back and while one employee (not their anylonger) was more than helpful, the people there now are in no way helpful, give horrible advice and would rather smoke their cigarettes or whatever else and get you out of the store.

I do not recommend......go to a private breeder or look online you will find many birds that need new homes. I strongly recommend getting your supplies online a great place with good prices is www.drsfostersmith.com and ebay.

I also learned that they kept a sick bird around birds for a week before taking it to the vet and it is was put on medication...if its still alive....other birds in the store were infected with the illness it had.

Their birds that are on "consignment" are often given to them for free and they sell them at outrageously high prices after telling the people that gave them to them that they will find them a good home and not charge nor do they tell the people purchasing them that they were given to them.

I could go on and on I know alot of stuff about these people and believe me its well worth searching for another outlet to get your supplies!

Ok so like most of you i read all the negative reviews so i was hesitent. But I was going to cocoa for the day so i stoped in. Honestly the place wasn't filthy but it wasnt spic and span but come on any parrot owner knows parrots play with there food and dig through spilling it. But it was not as bad as most reviews made it out to be. I was there for about a half hour and the girl that worked there was extreamly friendly and walked me around answering all my questions. Her manor of dress? id call it normal for someone handleing birds all day, are you really gonna wear nice cloths when your handleing animals that are messy? no. well i was there she was takeing the macaws out and excerciseing them by giveing them there out of cage time. The only bird i saw that was plucked was a bird that was there being boarded for a customer and this was not a recent event he had all new growth. all the birds for sale looked very healthy with nice plumage no ratty tail feathers. My only complaint was it was very loud but with so many birds its expected especially with macaws. All the birds were very friendly and one cockatoo was playing with me. This is a small bussiness not a multi million doller enterprise so when you go use common sense before leaveing a review. I have two parrots one is six months and the other is three years so i have expiernce with birds and enough to know that the birds in this store are being well taken care of.

If I could rate this store below a zero I would. This place is so dirty it's scary. The entire store is not only dirty but behind where the cash register sits is so filthy. I see stacks of boxes, garbage, and paperwork. Why this is out in the public for all to see I do not know. The cages have been taken care of but in the back where the birds are the lighting is horrible. Why would anyone think one skylight would provide enough light for any pet. If you can't afford the power bill then close the store. Put in some lights back there and make this store a happy cheerful place instead of dark and dingy place. Is it such a mess that you don't want the lights on? Even up front where the store is you can't look at anything to purchase because again, NO lights. TURN the lights on.

The people are rude, the owner dresses like she is living on the streets, her clothes are dirty and not fitting right. The two people that travel around in the scooters need to be coached on how to treat customers and not be rude. The older lady is sweet, but she obviously is getting to the age that she needs to not be doing the work. The man in the other scooter chair is rude and uncaring. All he wants to do is have your spend your money.

This store is horrible and should be closed down. Stay away from this place. God help the birds in this store. I hate to think how they would be treated if this store shut down and out of the sight of people seeing them.

This is for the people who apparently need enlightenment after their reviews of our store. They obviously don't know birds. Dona has a big heart. period. She is a very knowledgable and caring bird expert that many people have been referred to for her help. We even had a veternarians office bring us a bird that they couldn't help. We took her off of the 'Walmart' food and now she's doing great and even has a boyfriend. We have two ducks, that were once taken in because of injuries, and live at our store. They quack a lot, especially Louie, hence the shirt. Someone needs a sense of humor.

The store is an older building, with an interesting history, and it has lighting and skylights- when it's overcast it may not be as bright but it's never dim! Smoking is only outside on the deck and never wafts into the bird room- if these people smelled smoke then they were in a restricted area.

People shopping for a bird, need only ask for help and we will show them the birds and tell them what they need to know. Every customer is aknowledged. If they are poking or harassing the birds, it can be an unpleasant visit.

We don't dress in our 'Sunday best' but we dress casual because we are a bird store and the work never ends- and it can be messy working with birds.

Feeding and watering, in addition to sweeping and mopping, is done EVERY MORNING. Some birds like to wet or soak their food in their water and it may discolor it.

Our birds are handfed, or parent raised, babies and adults, and others are from homes that didn't want them anymore, or couldn't keep them. Some are rescues. Birds can pluck when their home environment changes and they come to us that way- and once they pluck, they rarely stop.

Our birds get fresh seed, water, treats, love and attention every day. Since the birds are in their cages constantly, not like in a home, cleaning is an endless and nonstop job. We do get compliments all the time, on how clean we are.

Some birds like to scream and vocalize, especially Sherbie, some chirp and sing, and some talk and imitate everyday sounds. Are birds quiet? No. You never know what you will hear.

We have many, many wonderful, loyal and repeat customers- and new ones every day. We also do boarding for our customers- they know we love and take great care of their babies.

Mega bird store is an awesome place to purchase either a baby bird or a re-homed bird. Dona does a great job with rehabbing birds people have dropped off or abandoned. It is true that she has a couple of birds who are missing feathers. These are her personal birds that she single handed rescued, saved, and rehabbed. These birds were long plucked before Dona saved them. If you spent any time there you would know these are well loved and VERY spoiled birds.

I have several birds and almost all are from Mega Bird. The babies and the re-homes are all beautiful fun birds. My vet (an avian expert) even commented on how healthy and socialized all of these birds were - even the one's that had been abandoned or rescued. This is because of Dona's handling of these birds. If the cages and conditions were deplorable as one disgruntled person claims - the birds from the store would not have been as healthy as they are. Every bird I have gotten there has been well socialized, well loved, healthy, and intelligent.

Mega bird has the freshest food and the time and experience to help new and experienced bird owners. Dona helped me rehab a bird that did not come from her store before I was even an established customer. She took the time because of her love of birds and her concern over the birds having good and quality relationships with their people.

In terms of the person who described the crude tee shirt. First - the shirts say shut the duck up - for anyone who is familiar with Mega Bird - there are two resident ducks that live in the store that run around. Enough said.

I have no issues taking my birds visiting Mega Bird - all of the staff know my birds and my birds know them. I would not allow anyone else to clip my birds or to trim nails or beaks.

I read an advertisement claiming it's the largest birds-only store in Florida, so I went to look at their birds. The owner was rude, the area with the birds was a dimly-lit warehouse type area that reeked of cigarette smoke, the cages were dirty, the water looked like it hadn't been changed that day, and most cages were not labeled. In addition, several of the birds had feathers missing from their breasts, as if they'd picked them out from nervousness and loneliness. I cannot in good conscience recommend this store to anyone.

This place is insane! Its not...

This place is insane! Its not clean, the bird cages the birds are in are rusty and unkept, the birds are screaming for attention, some birds have plucked themselves bald!!! And then they want to charge 1500.00 for a plucked, featherless, stressed bird! they are crazy! Not to mention... the people working there could care less that you are there, ignore your questions, and dress very sloppy... I'm sorry but no one should walk around in a shirt with a obscene saying... even if the last word is changed a lil bit. I was going to buy a bird... but not from there!!! I need to find people who actually care for their animals and want to see them healthy and happy!!! Stay away from Mega Bird!!!

Great Bird Place

I purchase my Blue and Gold Macaw from them. They were very knowledgeable and my bird was healthy and treated great. They had him in a large very clean cage and he is awesome. I also board my bird there several times a year. They always treat him great allowing him time outside of his cage on play gyms and feed him fresh veggies, fruits, and nutts daily. My bird always seams happy there and they are reasonably priced. I would reccomend the Mega Bird Store to anyone that has a bird or that is interested in purchasing a bird.

satisfied customer for life!

Mega Bird Store is by far the best! The staff is great. Very honest and very informative about birds.

They greet you with a smile, They offer you drinks and snacks and its such a great place to go and visit and learn about the birds. They will work hard to find the bird that will fit just right in your home. And they will help with problems you are having with already owned birds.

Barbara and Dona ,the New owners are by far very helpful , friendly, knowledgeable. I board my bird with them every time I have to go out of town they treat them so wonderful I would never trust anyone else!

Drop in and visit you will see what I mean!
