Primary CareThe Medical Eye Associates was created in 1974 and is the oldest group practice devoted to Eye care on the West Side of Cleveland. It was founded on the principle that the interests of the patient come first and the doctor works for the patient and no other party. Our five physicians are the primary care givers to all our patients and are accessible to patients and their primary care doctors at all times.
GlaucomaChronic open-angle glaucoma: - This occurs as a result of aging. The drainage angle of the eye becomes less efficient with time, and pressure withing the eye gradually increases.
OphthalmologyDr. Michael Zgrabik received his undergraduate degree from Notre Dame, and in 1983 received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. Dr. Zgrabik then completed his Internship at Faulkner Hospital and Residency in Ophthalmology at Wills Eye Hospital.
Macular DegenerationDr. Boris Komrovsky is a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist who has been in practice since 1983. His patients range from young children to senior citizens, and his services range from glasses and contact lenses to laser vision correction using “wave-front” technology. He performs the latest surgical procedures and treatments, including “no stitch” cataract surgery with specialized intra ocular lens implants, injections for macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease, as well as surgery for glaucoma, crossed eyes and various eyelid abnormalities.
CataractsDr. Zgrabik is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member in many medical organizations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Cataracts and Refractive Surgery.
Reconstructive SurgeryDr. Kristina Pao was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She received her Bachelors of Science in engineering from Swarthmore College in 2004 and her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in 2008. Dr. Pao then completed her Internship at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, California and her Residency in Ophthalmology at the prestigious Wills Eye Institute. She went on to complete her fellowship in Oculoplastics, Orbit and Reconstructive Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
Diabetic RetinopathyIf you have diabetes mellitus, your body does not use and store sugar properly. High blood-sugar levels can damage blood vessels in the retina, referred to as diabetic retinopathy.
Internal MedicineUpon graduation from Medical School, he moved to Cleveland for an internship at MetroHealth in Internal Medicine and completed his specialty training in Ophthalmology at the Cleveland Clinic in 1983. After nearly two years teaching residents in the Cleveland Clinic Program at St. Vincent Charity Hospital, he joined Medical Eye Associates in June of 1985.
Plastic SurgeryHe has specialized in medical and surgical diseases of the eye, with extensive experience in cataracts, glaucoma, pediatric diseases, and plastic surgery of the eye. He currently restricts his practice to Parma Community General Hospital.
