I firmly believe they are running a torture chamber. Their only concern is money. My poor dog suffered more than was treated. We took her there because we were concerned, and two days later still no improvement, and many conflicting statements by different Drs. Took her home and to her Vet in Bedford and now one, ONE!!! day later she has made a remarkable rebound. They would have killed our baby with no remorse. stay as far away from these people as possible. They are running a slaughter house. BEWARE!!!!!! DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMAL TO THESE PEOPLE!!!!!!!

my wife took our guinea pig in to be checked she's had spells of getting sick First trip was a month ago and had a great experience with a different vet. Second time my wife calls me sobbing, I figured from bad news. Well come to find out she overheard a staff member tell the doctor she had a guinea pig in room 4 and then overheard staff laughing yes this could not have been from that so she overlooked it for the most part. Dr Sanderson entered the room and barely touched our pet. My wife knew what needed to be done as symptoms were slightly the same as the time before. When the Dr. sanderson went to place the guinea pig into the box, she lifted her with a towel to slide her in the box. My wife placed our pet in there. Dr. Sanderson came in the room minutes later to tell my wife our guinea pig’s heart rate dropped and wasn’t planning on giving fluids. She said, “ I am letting you know Marble is about to take her last step off the cliff. She brought up putting her asleep and then continued to talk about Marble dieing as she is smiling and made a noise like a croaking noise. My wife told her she wanted our guinea pig to have fluids and antibiotics then we would take her home So my wife was actually calling to tell me a vet someone who is supposed to care for our fur babies was acting this way. Plus they charged more money and did less than last time which it was an emergency visit which is no concern.About 6 years ago Sanderson put my rot down which he supposedly had cancer in both kidneys which I do believe. But also had the nerve to ask me if I wanted him sawed up for better transfer home. So for this I have reached out to owner kelly burdette with no luck and will never ever see dr Sanderson again and am in process of reaching out to vet board of va... Please please ask for another veterinarian I do know dr tucker and a few others there are awesome. I do not know how Dr. Sanderson still is working here after hearing how she has treated many of our friend’s animals.

Seems to be all about money, disturbingly...
My dog had a fever, and my regular vet ran all the tests she could think of but didn't find anything. She prescribed him a strong antibiotic for the time being. By the evening, he was drooling constantly and shaky. Of course, at the time I didn't know it was due to some common side effects of taking the medication on an empty stomach (which my regular vet explained to me patiently the next morning). I panicked and called the town and county people around midnight. I informed the lady on the phone my dog's symptoms and the medication he was on. The lady sounded irritated and simply told me that if I were "really" concerned about my dog, I should just bring him in. She then went on to describing their fees and how that anything additional the doctor does would cost additional. I again told her my earlier visit (the same afternoon) to the vet and the test results from them (all negative). She said nothing, and then just reiterated their emergency visit fees and that tests are additional.
Obviously, I wasn't expecting any diagnosis over the phone. But I am very disturbed that she didn't care to know any symptoms my dog had or discuss anything with me except for their fees. It felt particularly exploitative because being an emergency clinic, they often deal with desperate and worried-sick parents (pet owners). I paid my regular vet close to $200 that afternoon for the tests and meds and still expect to pay another $150 at least for the rest of the supply for my dog's medication. I have no complaints about that, because they actually seem to care about my dog and answering my questions. I would never take my dog to town and county if I have any other choice at all, even though they were walking distance from my house...

More worried about getting as ...

More worried about getting as much money out of you as they possibly can. We took our 6 week old puppy to them one afternoon. She was suffering from bloody diarrhea, vomiting, lethargic... They ran a Parvo test, a blood test, a parasite test and came to the conclusion that she needed a blood transfusion AFTER we told them the breeder had another pup with the same affliction that day and it turned out to be hook worms. I advised them earlier that I could cover up to $300 that night. After the diagnosis they said "No, we don't partial payments, but we do deal with this thing called CARECREDIT. You can try an application with that." I was $188 short. So for the next 3 hours my wife and I were on the phone with everyone we knew and this "CareCredit" thing, trying to get the rest of the money needed to save our puppy as she lay there suffering. Finally at approximately 9:30pm that night, the "Doctor" comes back and says, "Ok, you pay the $300 now and sign the consent to treat form and we'll bill the remainder." I rushed up front, paid the money, signed the paper and returned to tell my wife they were coming back to start the procedure. I looked down at our puppy and she stiffened up, tongue rolled back, mouth agape in pain and that was it... there was nothing else that could be done. I rushed my 6 year old daughter out and as I passed the vet coming down the hall to get our little Gemma, I told her "She's in there dying right now."
They knew what was wrong, they knew how to treat it. They purposely withheld treatment solely for the purpose of EXTORTING as much money as they could possibly get on the spot. Now as a result, our beautiful little Siberian Husky is dead & we are all heartbroken. My daughter cried for two days. It was, needless to say Traumatic, it is rough even now for me to speak of it without choking up.
I was told I would receive a call and a refund of my money for portion of the procedure they DIDN'T do. It's been almost a week and still no word.
Now after I think over the whole situation, I am now in the process of seeking legal counsel.

When we rescued Callie, we both marveled at how calm and chill she was. She played just enough to be adorable, but otherwise she was a cuddle cat. What we didn't know was how sick she was with an infection and was full of worms (I think I accidently grabbed a sample of Rawry's stool for the vet for the first check up). On the way to Tenn, we stopped in Floyd and when we woke up, she was shivering violently and limp. We took her to Town & Country Vet in Christiansburg where they gave her a stronger antibiotic and dewormer and a bolus of fluids.

We have a brand new cat. She is a flying monkey with the way she jumps from shelf to counter (much to my chagrin, as cats don't get on tables and counters in my house). This kitten is NOT chill. She is NOT calm. She has all the energy and liveliness a kitten SHOULD have and I'm grateful for that stop over because I don't think she would have been okay. Thank you, Town & Country.

DO NOT go here! I live in another town but visit C'burg regularly and used to frequent T&C often for boarding and grooming. I stopped b/c they over-charge for everything AND they started requiring flu shots in order to let my dog come there. I board her at two other facilities and they do not require this. It is a scam to sell more vaccines and T&C is already the most expensive place I've ever used. Trust me....there are better vet offices that are much more reasonably priced in the NRV!

Please don t bring your pet here. We took our dog not knowing what was wrong with him. They took blood, a few x-rays, charged us close to 900 dollars and told us he had arthritis in his back. We were sent home with muscle relaxer and anti inflammatory ....our dog was not responding. We called and each time were not able to speak with a Doctor and were told back pain takes a while...after a few days our dog was dead. They were very anxious to get their money, promised a Doctor would call us back if we had questions and they never did. I could get past the fact that they blatantly overcharged us..but not only did our dog die, he suffered. I wish I had read the reviews on this site but sadly in an emergency we just ran. An unbelievably horrible experience.

saving you heartbreak

My dog was diagnosed Sept 2014 with cancer. The medical/office staff became obsessed with the future death of my dog. Everyone had an opinion. She is still happy and running around playing but the day of the diagnosis we were advised to put her down right then. Why would I put such a happy energetic dog down? Medical bills were mounting and we were told because we were such great customers that they would work with us. The customer service was horrible. There were times that Id come by in a day multiple times and each time a different office person would hound me for money. Last Saturday I made a payment twice which I pointed out and the girl then asked me when my dog would be in for vaccines. Please tell me other than for money why a dying dog needs vaccines? Rabies are good for another year. The beloved Dr. BURNETTE sent an email today responding to my complaints stating "we are not a bank" and scolding me for taking advantage of the payment plan THEY OFFERED. We had tried for a week to get the medicine filled that is helping my dog only to get a voicemail from a physicians asst stating they didnt know what the hurry was to get the medicine because my dog was terminal. Isnt their job to take care of all animals not just the healthy ones? Please dont be fooled they can play nice until its too late. Im removing my dog from the practice to give her peace in the final days.

Add ME to the list of who's dogs received unnecessary procedures. I have a non profit dog rescue and one of my fosters dogs was given over $600.00 worth of procedures that she did not need due to veterinary incompetence.

Add me to the list of clients whose animal received unnecessary procedures to run up a bill. Ripped off! Our dog went to T&C for emergency care. She presented with classic symptoms of vestibular disease. There's no known cause & no treatment. Vestibular disease typically resolves on its own. Instead of recognizing the condition, which a first year vet student could diagnose, T&C did blood tests, X-rays, gave a painkiller, ran an IV line & kept her overnight. All unnecessary & resulting in a $800 bill. I tried to resolve this outrageous situation with no success. T&C doesn't care about quality vet care. Their goal is clearly exploiting clients to make money. Stay far away from their incompetence & greed.
