Personal InjuryAfter obtaining her law degree, naturally Maggie aspired to own and operate her own law firm representing hard-working people who face unexpected injuries and need assistance to protect their livelihood, their family and their physical health. Maggie founded Shankle Law Firm, P.A. in 2008, where she has devoted her practice to protecting the rights of injured workers. She finds her passion in guiding people through the difficulties of the legal process and achieving the best possible result for her client. She has been practicing law in the workers' compensation field since 1999. Maggie also has substantial experience in handling personal injury, social security disability, medical malpractice, and catastrophic injury cases.
Medical MalpracticeBrittney was born in Hamlet, N.C. She received her B.A. in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Brittney enjoys being part of a team that fights for the rights of injured workers, as well as those injured in automobile accidents, medical malpractice claims, and many other types of catastrophic injuries. In addition to handling various types of injury claims, she is also integrally involved in daily firm operations.
Social Security DisabilityMaria has experienced first-hand the challenges and uncertainties of illness involving a loved one. This experience has provided her with an ability to provide empathy and guidance to the chronically ill clients in the firmâ€™s Social Security Disability practice. Mariaâ€™s sincerity and concern for individuals who are injured at work or are going through the Disability process is evident to clients. She finds reward in providing comfort to those involved in these trying legal areas.
DivorceDuring law school, Brooke participated in immigration and family law clinics providing legal assistance to those unable to afford an attorney. She has been interested in immigration law for years, and is rewarded by assisting clients in this area of practice. Her fluency in Spanish affords her a unique opportunity to help individuals in this area of practice. Brooke has assisted numerous clients with applications and petitions with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) including, but not limited to: family petitions, adjustment of status, green card renewals, u-visas, naturalization, change of status, and deferred action. In addition, she has also represented innumerable clients in removal proceedings in the Charlotte Immigration Court. She also represents clients in uncontested divorces, separation and property settlement agreements and traffic violations.
Workers CompensationMaggie Shankle is board certified by the North Carolina State Bar as a Specialist in Workers' Compensation Law. Maggie is an elite class of industry specialization as one of only a handful of attorneys in Mecklenburg County who are Board Certified Workers' Compensation Specialists.
