While it is my opinion that this backyard rescue group has good intentions, I would advise anyone adopting a dog from this organization to get a thorough wellness check from your OWN veterinarian or at least a second opinion from a different local veternarian in the Charlotte area and not rely entirely on theirs or the organization's claims that a dog is well on the path to recovery from an illness or is entirely healthy. To their credit, they did refer me to their veterinarian, and I failed to call him prior to adoption. Don't make the same mistake. It would be my advice to request ALL medical records from their vet and the records of the shelter they rescue from, if applicable, prior to adoption, because good luck getting those records after. The group was very helpful with questions upfront, but very unorganized following adoption. They failed to forward all paperwork, tags, and microchip information to me (some of which I did receive, some of which I never received) resulting in my having to pay to have tests rerun through my own veternarian's office once home. In my situation, however, following the repeated tests, I learned they had been fairly misleading concerning the extent of health issues of the dog I adopted - even downplaying the situation. They were unwilling to assist in expensive related treatment and would only offer a refund of the adoption fee upon return of the dog as if the animal were nothing more than chattel. Very disturbing actions and comments from a group professing to care for the welfare of animals. I will give this group two stars, however, because the dog I adopted has a wonderful personality and he immediately became a beloved part of our family.
