Dental ImplantsDental implants are titanium screws that replace missing teeth by fusing with the jawbone through a process called osseointegration. Because dental implants fuse with the jawbone, bone loss is generally not a problem and since they are made of Titanium you never have to worry about them getting a “cavity.” Dental implants are typically placed by an oral surgeon or periodontist and can be completed under local anesthesia or sedation. Resin CompositeUnfortunately, fillings are made of a composite resin which does not bleach. We can polish the surface of the filling which may help, but in most cases they must be redone. Before replacing old discolored fillings, you may want to consider whitening options so when the new filling is placed you will get the color you desire. Top
CrownsWe recommend you put it back into place and call the office immediately so we can re-cement it as soon as possible. Keeping your tooth covered is of utmost importance in this situation to prevent sensitivity and decay. Be careful not to swallow it if it becomes un-cemented. Even if there is no sensitivity or decay, please call us ASAP because it holds the space and prevents the adjacent teeth from shifting around. Top
Tooth WhiteningWhitening toothpastes have mild abrasives in them to remove surface stains which in turn make the teeth lighter. However, they do not actually whiten/bleach the teeth they just return the teeth to their original shade. Top

Dental SealantsSealants are a protective coating placed on the tops of teeth to prevent decay in the pits and fissures of permanent teeth. Sealants are most commonly placed on children’s teeth due to high risk of decay. These are usually covered under insurance for children but not adults. Top
Oral Cancer Screening
Dental ExaminationAccording to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, your child should see a dentist when their first tooth comes in or before their first birthday. Most general dentists will not treat children under age 3, but early dental exams can decrease dental anxiety and identify any developmental defects the children might have. At age 3, the child will have their first professional cleaning and possible x-rays. Top
X-raysExposure to radiation including the sun, appliances in your home, and dental X-rays, can cause some damage your body. Fortunately, in dentistry today with the invention of digital x-rays the dose of radiation you are exposed to is VERY small. Dental x-rays only focus on a small area and have a higher speed so the dose is very small and fast. A lead-lined apron is placed over you and protects you from stray radiation. In addition, the government requires dental x-ray machines be checked every two years to ensure their proper function and dose. Top
