So, sad to say it was bad, bad, and more bad when we visited. The food tasted burnt, every course. I am Sicilian. Raised in New York, summers with family in Sicily. I have been culinary school. From the stock of chefs. Even married one. This is not like any Italian food I've ever had. The sauce tasted like it came from the can. The prosciutto was nothing more than deli ham. The meat was overcooked, rubbery. The ambience left a bit to be desired. It was so dark we could barely see. It also smells like grease in the entire place, restrooms included. We brought to attention to things that weren't that great to the waitress, but she didn't seem too concerned. She was actually pretty crass about it. This isn't the worst place I've ever had a talion, but it certainly isn't the best. I'm guessing it's some southern take on Italian? No matter what it is, it certainly wasn't that good. Sad, I had hoped we would have an enjoyable evening.

Sorry but I have had great Italian Food and this just didn't impress...
Limited seating...
Limited portions...
Not short on price though!!!
Don't mind paying for good food or quantity but this misses the mark...
PS... May be the owner out meeting and greeting but he needs to get the order correct over being cute.

This was our first visit to the newly opened La Fontana restaurant in North Charleston at 7648 Northwoods Blvd. We are fans of the other locations but this one is much closer to where we live. The decor was quite nice with each table offering some privacy. The wait staff was attentive and very personable. The food was authentic and delicious. I especially enjoy the Calamari Fritti as an appetizer - very tender because it is not over cooked. My wife had the Caprese as her appetizer and is still talking about how good it was. Even with the excellent menu options, the cook will make modifications to any item if he has the ingredients - just ask. Need to say it - the best tiramisu around! And, if they happen to have it when you visit, the bread pudding is EXCELLENT!

I was a fan of LaFontana until my last visit. what have they done...... new restaurants are ALWAYS good and should remain that way however, I think they have gone down hill in a very short amount of time. I love veal and have had it many times before and the last two visits it was just the worst. Never mind sending it back not worth the wait. What a shame and a crime to be charged that kind of money for a dish that is less then satisifying.

La Fontana has very good food but limited seating. Be prepared to wait on weekends. I had a reservation for 7 and still ended up leaving as did others who we waiting to be seated.
